Later that same night.
Garamm strode around Sakura pondering about his plan.
They were staying at one of the taverns sponsored by the adventurer's guild. Special taverns and inns that have earned the favor of adventurers for room and food quality. But most importantly, these places were affordable for the adventurers.
These taverns were categorized according to the affordability for each adventurer class.
E-class inns were the cheapest, and accommodated E-rank adventurers. But that did not mean they were constructed with the bare minimum of essentials. Rather, they were considered quite nice.
A room in an E-class tavern would cost 6-8 bronze coins each day, the price of 3 meals for a commoner. Each room may be tight in spacing, but these taverns focused on providing enough housing for a large number of E-rank adventurers.
In addition, the meals themselves needed to pass a certain requirement of quality and quantity for the adventurers they served. For them, the quality of meals could be considered average compared to the normal taverns. Instead, it was the quantity of food they provided for the tired adventurer after a day's work. The quantity should satisfy the energy expenditures.
It cannot be said that the adventurer's guild did not take care of the adventurers they manage.
These taverns scaled according to the rank they were categorized at. D-class inns were better than E-class, but were affordable to D-rank adventurers. Room and food quality were also a cut above those provided by E-class taverns. The same could be said for higher ranked inns.
Garamm was staying at an A-ranked tavern. Preferring to slightly balance quality and price. But he was never one to overindulge.
Which was his current problem at the moment.
Spending a thousand gold coins on Sakura had eaten a large amount of his personal savings. Garamm was forced to draw from the allocated funds that the El Melloi Family provided. This fund was intended for his assignment in the Far East. Each time he used this fund, he was required to list the purpose of the purchase, the item, location, and other relevant details.
Garamm wasn't one to act out of line. His actions were known to have good results. Even if they failed, their intentions and goals were highly likely to be achievable.
The El Melloi Family knew him well. After all, Garamm was one of the best mages of his generation that the family produced. He was one of the few candidates to head the El Melloi family during the selection process a long time ago. But he didn't pursue that path due to personal reasons.
So searching for a suitable reason to explain his large expenditure for a slave was his first step. The only way to justify the purchase would be to yield results. A potentially powerful prodigy at his hands would only stay at the potential stage unless he acted upon it.
Since he wasn't going to return to the El Melloi headquarters for a year, he had some time to train Sakura's potential into a reality. But training a prodigy for its talent alone was not enough.
A plan needed action with a direction. The action would be to train Sakura, but without direction, it would be useless. Train her for what? Garamm didn't exactly specialize in discovering the talent in people, he excelled in boundary, mineralogy, and battle arts. None of which could be trained for a child of 8 years old.
8 years old...
Sakura was the same age as one of the future hopefuls that could lead the El Melloi Family.
Garamm's mind started running furiously as an idea unfolded. He could train Sakura into becoming a great mage that could support the future generation of El Mellois.
