Author's Note
...
Hey everyone, surprise chapter for you all.
Story is still currently on hold, but some requests have been made and I'm more amenable to continuing it now. Here's to improving my first project!
I'm going to continue with the weird crossovers because I've developed a lot of the future plot around them. If people want a Shirou fic without the crossovers but retaining the same concept of him being reincarnated or thrown into another dimension with the ultimate goal of finding Sakura again (meeting familiar faces along the way), I have some old ideas I tossed aside that could be revived for a second go at Shirou in Another World WITHOUT the crossovers. Just Shirou, Sakura, Rin, legends, lots of Saberfaces, and maybe a certain counter guardian, then give me a heads up.
Going forward...
One, I'll be replacing Shirou's copied abilities from other crossovers. Example: Hiraishin. I'm going to make him develop his own techniques and style from this point on. It will be replaced by Zelretch's advanced version of teleportation as Shirou improves on it. After a year's break, it feels wrong to just grab a cheat off another crossover. I don't like it.
Two, I've moved this fanfic from Fate/Stay Night ONLY to CROSSOVERS. I'm still going to push forward with my original plot with the massive crossover world because that was the original plan.
Three, this fanfic is still officially on hiatus.
=== ORTH ===
The following day, Shirou couldn't focus on his task.
Not that he needed to, his body automatically went through the motions. Jiang's workshop was cleaned, lunch cooked, and Shirou was gone by day's end. He expected his employer to have heard of his other job as a scout for the Abyss from his wife, but it seemed that Jiang didn't bring it up- or didn't care at all. The smith continued to work away on compositing metals day in and out.
Once he was free from the blacksmith, Shirou quickly headed for his base outside Orth. The gathering yesterday was obviously connected to the sudden appearance of the shadow beasts and the abnormal servant in the sixth layer. Shirou needed to investigate the anomaly and figure out what exactly was going on.
Why was there a Ruler class servant in the sixth layer? How did she become altered?
Shirou weighed his options. Should he focus on learning more about Orth and the world? Or should he try to deal with the anomaly below? So far, he hadn't heard of any S-ranked adventurers. If the guild sent them down, then Shirou would have less freedom and time to study the problem. Collecting information about Orth could be delayed, but if he allowed the servant to continue making trouble, then more lives were at stake.
The choice was obvious. Shirou needed to go down and investigate. His identity as a survivor from the sixth layer would eventually spread too much and might draw the attention of stronger people. Shirou would like to avoid that as much as possible.
Officially, Shirou was residing at the guild dorms. But he couldn't hide his activities if he operated from there, so he bought a residence outside of Orth where there were less people at risk of finding him. That was where he established his workshop and base.
He arrived at the small boundary he set up around the base and found nothing amiss. A few minutes and some well placed dyes he bought, and Shirou came out looking like a different person. When Shirou lived in his old life, disguise was a skill he picked up when dealing with non-magical jobs. It wasn't as effective against mages, but sometimes a few didn't do their diligence and Shirou pulled one over on them.
