Chapter 18: The worry he had
~
Misty didn't bother Ash going back in the past and coming again. She knew it was wrong of him, but all she cared about was him coming back safe and sound.
She knew he wouldn't be able to change anything, so that wasn't something she looked into.
They both recently started staying up at night, sometimes thinking about each other, sometimes talking to each other. It was all fun and games until their common debate would pop up in their conversations.
They learned how to laugh it off, how to tolerate each other. Ash, deep inside his heart, was still worried about himself, his mom, his deeds.
One bad deed could ruin one's good deed status.
He didn't show it, of course. Although, he never stopped thinking of when that all will end. How much time until he goes back home, somewhere he truly belonged.
He loved Misty's company, no denial in that, but it was all still a bit new to the poor innocent boy.
Misty didn't stop thinking about it either. She always paid attention to Ash, a little more than she should be. She would always know what was going on in his mind.
She knew how Ash wanted that all to end. Even she did.
If he wanted that, then she did too, no matter what their state at the end.
Misty sighed as she flopped down on the couch, leaning back and taking deep breaths. Dead or alive was a different question, but her head was hurting, something which occasionally happened.
She heard Ash come down the stairs, being all fresh after his afternoon nap. After looking at Misty, his face held a noticeable frown.
He went to her and kept a hand on her forehead. "Hey, you alright?" Ash asked, genuinely concerned.
"I'm fine." Misty stated, but her next actions said otherwise.
She sat straight on the couch, grabbing her thumping head in her hands, her elbows resting on her knees, her chest going up and down rapidly, a visible pain inside her.
Mother, father...
Mother...father...?
MOTHER, FATHER! ANSWER ME!
"Mom...dad...." Misty uttered while shaking slightly. Ash was panicking. He didn't know what was happening, and given that, he didn't know what to do either.
Seeing her like this, he realised that it was one of the things he never wanted to watch. Ash felt the need to help her but at the same time realisation kept striking him stating he couldn't do anything.
"MISTY! CAN YOU HEAR ME?!" Ash yelled at Misty, who was coming down from her high level of pain.
She calmed down after a while, her head still throbbing, but less than earlier. She looked at an extremely worried Ash, who looked like he was going to cry any moment.
"Ash..." Misty began. She couldn't fight the urge anymore.
So, she hugged him.
Tightly, to be specific. Ash was confused at first, but gave in nonetheless. He wrapped his hands around her, giving her his warmth, which she accepted gladly. They stayed in that position for a while. No words were spoken, no noise was made, it was just two people holding each other as if there was no tomorrow.
"Misty.." Ash broke the silence. He couldn't be silent. Something was happening to Misty and he needed to know what it was.
"What happened?" He asked softly, being extremely gentle with the girl.
