7am in the morning thinking and sipping my coffee, when my phone rang.
"It must be Ivan" I thought
We suppose to have an early meeting.
"Ah, it's Hannah" I said so happily
That's my love we've been in a relationship for almost 2 years now. She's not a morning person and I was really worried as to why she would call that early. I then remembered that I have dinner plans later at night with her so maybe she wanted to remind me or probably she just wants to say hi.
My life turned upside down. I couldn't believe what I just heard.
"Kyle it's over between us" she said
And before I could say one word she hunged up the call. I tried calling her back but her phone was off. I felt so confused, because the past few days were nothing but fun and I didn't even notice something wasn't right with her. But we could've talked things over if I did something wrong, i mean why would she just end it like that?
Her words literally destroyed me and my day completely. And at that moment a puzzle piece fell from my heart, as if it never belonged there.
I looked at my watch and I was getting late. I drove to Hotel Nova real quick where I am suppose to meet Ivan. The good thing he was there already,I donno where I'd have gotten the patience to wait for him.
We discussed what we had to and we were just chilling. He was on his phone to be precise, probably chatting or just scrolling through his social media.
Lost in my thoughts. Having issues with my family, at work then now Hannah decided to end things. My heart was breaking. I was bleeding an ocean through my eyes. The magnitude of this pain wasn't something I was prepared to feel or ever imagined of such a day.
I looked at her contact once more before i decided to add it to the recycle bin. And a seconds after I removed it completely. I once ran through fire for Hannah but now my love for her was turning to ashes.
Without hesitation I booked a train ticket to La Palma island, one of the best Spain’s Canary Islands. I needed this vacation. My mind was craving for solace. I wanted to get away from the city life. I didn't waste one more minute I bid goodbye to Ivan and went straight home to get my bags ready.
3pm I was at the train station. Trying to find my seat. Looking for it desperately. I was too tired to even stand. Seat 23,I saw it. I swift hand to get rid of the dust on it then placed my belongings near me. Within no time everyone was in and the train started moving abruptly and I could hear the clashing of the steel wheels against the railway tracks echoing through my ears.
I didn't want any sort of disturbance, so to make myself more comfortable i plug my headphones in and put on my favourite music. I let it flow through my ears.
. . .........
Waking up to the noisy passengers who were aligning the train. I cant believe I fell asleep am not the type to fall asleep when travelling but definitely my body needed it.
It was now time for soul searching. The beautiful sea smelled so beautiful and the solace in nature was unmatchable.
And the one reason why I chose this island was because of it's narrow cobbled streets and houses with wooden balconies.I freshened up quick and was strolling out by the beach . My eyes were moving from sand to stone, from rock pools to breaking waves. The briny aroma, was everything I craved for.
This was the time I needed for myself and all I prayed for was time to move slow.
Not forgetting the stars light, they light the sky like snow-flakes at night."Was I ready for this new beginning?" I couldn't stop asking myself...
But all that I knew and that I was sure of was that I found solace and there was nothing comforting than it.
