-Niall's POV-

She looked astonished to see me.

"Niall, what the heck?!" she managed to get out.

"What do you mean what the heck? You're the one who ditched school. You should be in class right now."

"Well excuse me, but last time I checked you weren't my father."

"That's right. I'm not, your father skipped town many years ago," I could see the tears welling up in her eyes. "I see you've got a boyfriend?"

"Who ever said he was my boyfriend?"

"Who ever said he wasn't."

"Well, he's not. Why are you here anyway?!" She was getting furious.

"Oh I don't know, maybe because you just disappeared out of nowhere during a fire drill."

"Well shouldn't you just be with Phoebe? It's her first day here." Her lip began to quiver, and her voice began to shake. "You know, since she's so 'amazing', and 'beautiful', and 'smart'." She looked away. I then realized that she was quoting me from earlier this morning. Did my words really affect her that much?

"Lauren..." She had already begun to walk away. I grabbed her shoulder and stopped her. She turned around and looked at me with sad eyes. She shook off the grip I had on her shoulder, got in her car, and drove away.

-Lauren's POV-

Niall is just unfuckingbelievable. Is he really so blind to notice that I'm hurt? Many thoughts swirled around my head as I drove around for the next three hours. When I was sure that my mom wasn't home, I headed home. I did some homework, but I couldn't seem to concentrate as one question went through my head the whole time:

Why her? Why not me?

I was suddenly distracted by my thoughts when my phone began to ring. It was an unknown number, so I was hesitant to pick it up. I had a feeling it was Niall, since he had been texting and calling me nonstop all day today, so I picked up.

"What do you want? Can't you tell that I don't want to talk to you right now? Just leave me-"

"Oh. If that's how you really feel... then I guess I'll do just that. Although, it's been awfully hard doing that for the past five years."

"Yes that's-"I paused. This voice did not belong to Niall. "Matt?"

"Yeah...I was wondering if we were still on for later, but...."

"No! We're still on. I'm sorry about that. I just..."I gave up in trying explaining, there was no use. He probably thought I was a freak now.

"It's fine. We all have those days, don't we?" he replied calmly.

"I guess so."

"Right, so see you in about an hour?"

"Definitely." I replied, a little too quickly.

He chuckled. "Good. See you then."

"You too."

We hung up, and I immediately got ready. I took a shower, and took extra time to do my makeup? Why was I putting so much effort into dressing up, when I hadn't really done that with him before? I eventually picked this out http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=65923525 and left my mom a note, telling her where I was. I head out the door, and drove to Starbucks. When I arrived, I didn't see Matt there, so I just sat in my car for a good five minutes. Eventually, I called him.

The phone rang and he answered saying, "Hey, where are you?"

"Oh I'm outside waiting for you... I wasn't exactly sure where we were supposed to meet. I'm sorry."

"No, it's fine." His voice grew louder, and louder.

"Well I'm coming in now, so..."

"No but WAIT!" I turned around as he said this, to find us standing face to face, him with a huge grin on his face, me looking as if Osama Bin Ladin just arose from the dead, and told me he was my father.

"Matt!" I said, still undergoing the shock that came with that little surprise.

"What's wrong? You look pale." He had a playful concerned look on his face.

"Oh shut up." I said jokingly punching him in the arm.

"Ouch. I forgot you were strong."

"You know what Mr. McCullough, you better watch your back."

"I'm scared." He was smirking.

"Oh the CHEEKINESS."

We walked into Starbucks laughing, and telling jokes. I realize how much I'd missed him. We ordered coffee, and took in the beautiful scenery. There were Christmas lights hung up all around the place, and mini Santa's everywhere. There were little snowflake designs covering the walls, and the whole 'Under The Mistletoe' album by Justin Bieber was playing softly in the background. For once everything seemed to be going okay in my life.
