-Lauren's POV-
I kept thinking about what I could have possibly done wrong in the time span of 20 minutes. Niall wasn't in any of the classes that we had together, so he either skipped, or didn't come to any of the classes we had together.
Gosh Lauren, you're such a freakin' screw up. Why can't you get anything right for once?
I was walking out of fifth hour when I heard my name mentioned. I leaned against the nearest wall and listened.
"Oh COME ON. Two weeks, and she's already pissing you off."
No anser.
"I'm right aren't I?"
"Phoebe..."
It was Niall and Phoebe. Talking about me.
Nothing else came after that, just silence. I walked around the corner to what happened, only to see Niall and Phoebe lip-locked. I cleared my throat, and they both turned around. Phoebe was smirking, and Niall looked helpless.
"Lauren..."
I wasn't about to go into bitch mode because I knew Niall hadn't kissed her. She was trying to make it seem that way.
"Lauren-"
"Niall, it's okay. I know what she's trying to do."
"Oh thank God."
"Niall, I'm so much better than her." said Phoebe.
"You're really not." Niall retorted.
"Whatever." She replied walking away.
Then it was just Niall and I in the hallway.
"Whay are you mad at me?" I asked, voice quivering.
No answer. He just walked away. What the heck is going right now? I sighed, letting a tear fall, before finally walking away.
What did I do? The worst part is he's my ride home. The last two hours of school went by quicker than I'd expected. Maybe because I was just going through the motions. I walked out to the parking lot and sure enough, Niall was already sitting his car. I got in, neither of us really saing a word. When we arrived at my house, I thanked him for the ride and got of the car. So did he. Weird...
I walked into my house.
So did he.
I sat on my couch, and he began rummaging through my pantry.
"Niall."
"What?"
"What did I do wrong?
He stuffed two oreos into his mouth. "You kept fighting my battles for me. I was capable of defending myself. You made me seem week out there."
"Well you weren't defending yourself , so I figured I would defend you!"
"Well, maybe I didn't want to be defended!"
"Why not?"
"All those things they were saying, are true! I suck, so why should I even try?"
"Niall James Horan! Don't ever let those words leave your mouth again!"
"But it's true!"
"No it's not!"
He shook his head. I sighed and pulled my knees up to my chest. "I'm sorry for wanting to defend my best friend, and boyfriend." I whispered.
Five seconds later, he sat down next to me, and pulled me closer to him. He tilted my chin up so that I was looking at him. "I know babe. I'm sorry for overreacting." He said.
"It's okay. I just...I hate when people try to humiliate you, and I just hate seeing you hurt. It makes me sad. I hate fighting with you..."
"I hate fighting too."
"Are we back to normal now?" I asked.
"Only if you want to be."
"Of course I want to be. I wouldn't be sitting here close to tears if I didn't."
He laughed. "Yup, we're definitely back to normal, since you're being a smartass again."
"Sorry. Can't help it. It's in my blood." I smirked, and looked up at him.
"Whatever." He said kissing my nose.
I love him.
