First Steps

Months Later
Caius is in his office working while Kouichi is in the nursery playing with Kiyomi. She crawls towards Kouichi and into his lap.
Kiyomi: "Da da?"
Kouichi: "You wanna see Daddy?"
Kiyomi: "Da da!"
Kouichi: "Ok then we'll go in a few minutes."
Kouichi picks up Kiyomi's toys and puts them away. He then picks her up and carries her.
*knock* *knock* *knock*
Caius: "Come in."
Kiyomi: "Da da!"
Caius: "Darling!"
Kouichi places Kiyomi on her feet to help her with standing but then...
*tap* *tap* *tap*
Caius: "*gasp*"
Kouichi: "She's walking!"
After a few steps Kiyomi falls and crawls the rest of the way to Caius. He picks her up off the floor and celebrates one of her first achievements of life.
Caius: "I'm so proud of you!"
Kiyomi: "*giggles*"
Kouichi and Caius shower her with hugs and kisses.
Naiad: "Excuse me, brother. Oh, am I interrupting something?"
Caius: "Kiyomi just took her first steps."
Naiad: "That's Wonderful! I knew she'd be a fast learner."
Caius: "So what was it you needed, Naiad?"
Naiad: "Oh, as you know Kiyomi's first birthday is in a month, and since she's father's first grandchild, he wants her birthday celebration to be big. He told me to send you two to his chambers so you all can start planning."
Kouichi: "But who-"
Naiad: "I'll watch Kiyomi, just hurry before father tries to walk again."
Kouichi: "*kiss* We'll be back soon; be good for Auntie Naiad.

This is the start of @AishathSihaaAli idea of Kiyomi's 1st birthday. I'm still taking suggestions though. I really want this story to be enjoyable to read, so you all giving ideas and pointers on how to improve really helps. Thank you. 🙂
