A while had gone by since the certain exchange of words between the two of us. Ross left me to stand and succumb to a numb little shell.  I tried to be normal and continued as I went up to my room, took off my makeup and got changed into my pajamas, and sat on the foot of the bed. My mind wandered off overplaying the same conversation in my head. It was like I was all cried out, I guess it was my brain's way of torturing me. We were on a ship, it had all sorts of dents from a storm we passed and we decided to take a break. Left it at the dock, got off, and never spoke of it again. 

Until one day we decided to continue our voyage, we got back on and danced our hearts away to the rhythm of the waves when we reached the destination, the long-forgotten dents haunted us as we fell off the cliff, unsure if we'd ever come back up.

At that moment I heard the click of a lock as the door opened and my best friend walked in seeming to be in a daze right up until her gaze landed on me to which worry washed over her as she rushed towards me. "Laura, honey are you okay, what's wrong?" She said sitting next to me and then I just broke into a million little pieces while she wrapped me in her embrace, letting me take it all out.

It had been a while now and I told Selena everything that happened and looking at my state she cried too. Wiping her eyes she says "Okay so I know this isn't the right time at all but I can't keep it to myself anymore, Laur, Cole, and I are dating" She said with a single nod. I smiled hugely as I hugged my best friend despite her confused face "I'm so happy for you guys, you deserve all the love in the world after what Justin did" I told her comfortingly to which she smiled warmly. "You deserve it too, I can't watch you be hurt anymore, I hope everything works out for you guys" She now tells me. I thank the lords to have someone like her in my life.

5/5/21, the next day

I sat in the driver's seat of my very new car that didn't seem to give me the thrill it has been anymore. The familiar melodies that filled the silence seemed distant. The everlasting adrenaline rush I had these last 2 months no longer seemed to exist. The mind that used to be filled with all the amazing memories of Laura and me, now only overplayed the same conversation. It was like I was present but my mind was in a time loop. 

it wasn't only one of us who caused this it was rather the both of us. I knew that. She knew that. What we didn't know was how to solve our problems and move on. We aged, but our feelings didn't.

I reached home which was my parent's place right now because the entire family was there for Sunday dinner. I walked towards the backyard only to be greeted by my entire family sitting together and having a good time. My mom was the first to see me. "Ross, honey you're back early, why so? are you okay?" She questioned and that was enough for me to get teary-eyed again and run to my mother's arms while she comforted me.

for today's qotd:  We're gonna talk about my next book cause skinny dipping will be over soon don't worry there's gonna be plenty of chapters but I wanna get a headstart so I can give you guys longer chapters in the next one. I have two ideas and I need your opinion on them.

a) would you guys like a college au where Laura is this girl who fits in with everyone but no one knows anything about her up until Ross Lynch, keeps running into her at the campus library, always wearing the same yellow sweater. Something about her pulled him in with her witty remarks and bold opinions yet sweet soul and he was going to unravel her mystery.  It's based on willow by Taylor swift if you guys listen to it you'll get the vibe

b) Laura Marie, fresh out of college no longer wants to be so firm. So when she goes back home, she immediately rushes over to her blonde best friend's house whose band she was going on tour with and pleads for help to which he dares her to go on a blind date that he would pick each place they go, desperate for help she agrees.
