You opened an eye slowly, still processing the daylight. You tried to sit up, but Ichigo groaned and pulled you closer to him. You patted his head, and resorted to staying in bed for a while longer, however this didn't last long.

There was a knock on the door and Ichigo grumbled angrily, and told you to hide somewhere while he pulled his clothes on. You settled for the attic, considering that the last person inquiring about your whereabouts didn't seem to know you were there.

You were there for a while, and there was another search, though this time more thorough.  There were two people this time, and the fake wall had been knocked down.  You went into panic mode as footsteps made their way in.  You tried to curl up into a corner and make yourself look invisible, but to no avail.

Suddenly, there was a loud bang, and a familiar scent overtook you and you felt your consciousness be replaced by the darkness looming all around you.

When you awoke, you found you were moving.  You could tell you were moving quickly, and you also felt heat next to you, no, on you.

Or rather just against you, Ichigo had his left arm around you and hadn't noticed you awakened. You shifted your eyes to study the surroundings.  You were in a car.  The interior was grey and clearly expensive, the windows were dark, and it was likely that you couldn't see in.

You looked at the person driving, who was in the front seat while you and Ichigo were in the back.  You noticed gloved hands and a frizz of long red hair. Clearly she had been in a hurry this morning.  You looked up at Ichigo, careful not to give away that you weren't asleep.

Unlike you, he was looking dead ahead.  He had on a serious expression that you hadn't seen from him in until now, not even whenever you did something he didn't like.

After waiting for a few minutes, or it could've been hours, you'd lost track of time once again.  When you couldn't handle it any more, you cleared your throat, "I need the bathroom."

It was very quiet, then Ichigo raised an eyebrow at you. "Good morning, I guess?" His face broke into a smile after saying this, and he was scolded by Naomi for not taking the situation seriously enough.

"If you're desperate, I'll stop at a gas station after we get out of town. While we're there I'll grab something to eat, I think we all had to skip breakfast today." Naomi had an aura of authority, so neither you nor Ichigo said anything against her suggestion, or rather her command.

After a while, you couldn't handle the silence any more. "What happened back there?" There was quiet, before Ichigo sighed. "It's not important."

"All that you need to know is that we're going somewhere safe," as she said this, Naomi started to slow the car, and you realised that you had reached the nearest gas station.

You were entrusted with not escaping as Naomi handed you a few coins for the bathroom, and headed off in the opposite direction for some food.  Ichigo waited for you outside of the bathrooms, a "precaution for your own safety".

You came out with damp hands, since the hand dryer didn't work, which Ichigo had a fit about, because your hand slipped out of his.  He offered the hem of his top to dry the water before pulling you back to the car quickly, pulling his hood up as he passed the CCTV.

Both Naomi and Ichigo wore face masks, which wasn't uncommon, but you couldn't help but notice they hadn't handed you one.  When prompted about it, Ichigo was quiet.  Naomi hadn't returned yet.

You were counting the minutes, and you counted six.  The line can't have been that long.  Ichigo permitted you to poke your head out of the window to see what was going on.

When you did, you noticed some people questioning other drivers and searching cars.  There were around eight cars waiting for gas, and there were about three between the one you were in and the next one being searched.

"Uh, Ichigo I don't want to panic you... but there's some guys asking questions and searching cars."  After you said this, Ichigo reached into the front seat and took a bag which you had not noticed. He had a scary look on his face.

It was leather and square, and looked expensive.  He felt for the zip and quickly opened it.  He felt for something, and swiftly pulled it out and pressed it into your hand.

The metal was cool, and it was heavy in your hand.  It was a gun.  You audibly gasped, and Ichigo kept hold of your hand.   "Here," he guided your hand to the receiver, "can you see a red dot?"

You scanned the object. "N-no..."

Ichigo nodded, "the safety's on," he guided your hand again. "Now it's off, for now though..." he manoeuvred his hand, and you knew he had done this many times before. "Keep the safety on.  Only use it as a last resort."  You nodded, and slid it into your pocket as Ichigo instructed.

It was an uncomfortable weight, but you would rather have the constant reminder of it than forget about it, something bad could happen if you did.  Ichigo passed his hands over a few other things, threw out a few, attached some to his belt, and then leaned into the front of the car.

You watched his fingers slide over the dashboard, then a small snapping sound.  He grabbed your hand, and pulled you out of the car.  You stumbled, but Ichigo pulled you back up, and took off with you straight ahead.

There were a few shouts, behind you, telling you to stop, soon dulled by the sound of an explosion.  Ichigo dodged a few trees, and you once again questioned his lack of sight, until his shoulder skimmed a few, and at one point, he rammed straight into one, taking a few seconds to recover.

He sat with his back against said tree, and took out a flip phone, which he handed to you.  "Dial this number," he spat numbers too quickly for you to type, so he had to repeat the phone number again before you got the right one.

He took the phone, and said a lot of things hurriedly to someone else on the line, before hanging up.  He groaned, and rubbed his face with his hands.

"Ted's on his way, but not if we get found first." Ichigo took a square of paper from his pocket, and unfolded it carefully. Then, he stretched out his arm towards you, waiting for you to take it.

"You got a good look at the gas station name, right?" Indeed you had, because of the large light up logo. "Alright, there should be some areas that are circled, how far is the nearest one?" You looked at the key on the side, using your shaking index finger to make sure you didn't misread the distance.

"About 10 miles," Ichigo groaned in frustration again, this time louder. He sat for a few moments, and you could almost hear gears turning in his brain. Finally, he reached into his pocket, and pulled out a plain black mask, similar to his and Naomi's.

You felt grateful for the coronavirus outbreak a few years back all of a sudden, because it meant you could wear one of these and hide your identity without looking suspicious.

Ichigo also ordered you to put your hood up and tie your hair so that it didn't fall out. He put his own mask on, and gave the next instructions.

"Alright, we need to get back in the street, and you need to do exactly what I tell you to do."
