He hissed as the hot drop of acid spilled onto his hand, but was not dumb enough to touch it. He had been too fast to swirl the flask, and Ted had noticed it; of course he had. "I told you he was too young, how old is he anyway? Not even legally an adult." Naomi shook her head at him and tutted, "you know he's like me, in both looks and his... mentality. I've given you a report on all that he's done, he's proven himself with the smaller things. He could be a big help."
"I don't know about this, Naomi, the kid is clearly a genius, he passed the theory test without even taking time to think, and he's handling these chemicals nicely, but I just don't think he's cut out for fieldwork."
The redhead would've glared at Ted, if he could. Instead, he felt the container labels for the water, in which he dunked his hand. It had only been a small drop, so it wasn't much blood. "I agree completely, I care about him, but he wants to train."
The boy scowled. "All of this just to use some equipment? Who's he trying to find with it anyway?" Ted pressed on.
"I don't know, he won't say." Naomi shrugged, "he'll need help with it anyway, the screen doesn't have braille so someone's going to have to read the ID of the DNA for him. You can't say anything, the only reason I specifically requested for you to assess him is because you're only working for us to look for-"
By now, the solutions had mixed, and the boy made sure to put the flask on the table hard enough to make a bang, but not hard enough to make the chemical inside spill - that would scar horribly. This got the attention of Naomi and Ted, and their slander was forcibly ended.
Ted nodded, "perfect, you're done. All we need now is to erase you completely and give you a fake identity. Should be done by next week, the others are keen to meet someone who's overcome such.... Challenge."
The boy kept his eyes shut and heard the scrape of the chair as Ted left, and didn't speak until he heard the door shut. "You don't think I have what it takes." It wasn't a question, and Naomi stiffened.
"All I'm saying is, whoever you're searching for isn't worth endangering yourse-" Naomi was cut off by her nephew lunging across the table and grabbing her left arm, pulling it towards him. She cursed, "hey! Let go! This stuff can melt through bone in a few minutes!" Naomi didn't help herself by focusing on her captured hand, trying to pry it out of the boy's grasp.
"That's the whole point," Naomi's gaze shifted to his other hand, which was already tipping a flask directly above her arm. She pulled both arms back sharply, but that just focused the damage onto her hands and she cried out when the solution made contact with her skin.
He had already gotten out of the way and was unaffected, and though he couldn't see her, his eyes lay in her direction as he took in her screams for a few seconds. "I'll get someone to bandage you up, but if you dare say she isn't worth it again, you won't be so lucky next time." He spoke quietly as he traced the edge of the table and walked towards the door, leaving Naomi clutching her hands together and whimpering.
"You won't make her happy, Kasai. Don't say I didn't warn you."
