"We need to leave, I know you're both more tired than me, but it's not safe here." Naomi said, turning around, intending to leave before they were spotted. But Ichigo didn't budge, and instead kept walking.

"You two go back, find Cathy, I need to get something." Naomi grabbed the back of his top.

"Are you crazy? What could possibly be so important that you're walking into suicide territory?"

Ichigo flashed a crooked smile, and in that moment he looked more fragile than he ever had. "Strawberry's things, I couldn't risk keeping them with me while I was in a place like Kyoto."

Naomi sighed understandingly. "But you can't go in there when you can't even see the danger."

"I've been on the field before, I've always survived."

"But this isn't what you're used to, Kasai." Naomi smiled at him sadly, ruffled his hair, and ran into the direction of the house.

"What the fuck, Naomi?! Get back here!" Ichigo stumbled after here, but he was also barely able to stand up from exhaustion.

"Naomi, I'd rather have an aunt than my dead dog's stuff."  Ichigo called out hoarsely, his voice broke, and you didn't need to look at him to know that he was crying.  You sat next to Ichigo, side-hugging him, and praying to whatever (if any, given all that had happened) god that existed that Naomi would be okay.

She hadn't taken the front door, which was a smart decision, but that locked room was on the second floor, and the key's location was unknown to you.  "Ichigo, where's the key for the locked room?"

Ichigo looked up at you with glossy eyes.  "It's not locked, you just need to push it a bit hard, the door is a bit too big for the frame."

"Does Naomi know that?"  Ichigo nodded.  "Then, all we can do is hope that she'll live.  She's Naomi, she has to live.  She's strong, she can't die."  All you could muster was false confidence to speak broken promises.

"She has dynamite," Ichigo said.  "I gave her three, she made do with one, she still has two."  He laughed through his tears.  "She might actually live!"  You knew he was trying to reassure himself like you were, and you didn't want to kill the optimism, so you stayed quiet.  Ichigo knew that the people in the house likely had guns, and so did you.

Naomi was used to climbing up and down vines.  Before she had left the orphanage, she frequently had to climb up and down the three storey building via overgrown vines.  As long as they held, she could do it like second nature.  She had to sneak out often, since the work she did took long hours, and during the day, she had chores and other duties.  She was never known to have many friends, and wouldn't know what the excuse would be when she'd tell the caretakers that she was going out.

As a result, Naomi scaled the wall gracefully, striking the corner of the window with her elbow.  The advantage of having a building in the middle of nowhere was that no one bothered to replace the windows or clean the overgrown greenery.  Naomi quickly gathered the few contents of the room.  All except the box in which Strawberry was still kept.

Naomi didn't have the heart to tell Ichigo that the dog had decomposed, and that he should bury the body properly.  There wasn't much to take, a few leashes and chew toys, but Naomi knew how important they were to her nephew.  And soon, there was someone on the other side of the door.  "Open the door, and we'll make your death quick, Kasai."

Naomi lit another stick of dynamite, and rolled it in the direction of the door.  "Sorry, guys, Kasai's not here."  And she climbed out of the window before she heard anything other than the sound of the door being slammed, followed by a loud explosion.  This seemed to be a new common aspect of her usually lab based life as of late.

Naomi smashed another window, this one being a car window, then got started hot wiring the vehicle.

You heard the sound of an engine, and you stood up quickly, helping Ichigo as well, ready to put up a fight with whoever was approaching.  However, you found that it was Naomi in the drivers seat, her smashed window offering her no protection.

"Ichigo! She made it!"

"Y/n you go in the back, tell us if they're chasing us," Ichigo said as he sat into the front passenger seat.

"Well, if that's my only job, then we need to get going."  The other car was already speeding towards you. Naomi didn't waste time, driving onward at max speed. You smacked your head on the ceiling of the car a few times where there were bumps in the grassy terrain.

"Y/n, how's your aim?" Ichigo asked.

"Uhhhhhh," you didn't get time to respond, Ichigo was already handing out a gun. "Ichigo, where do you get all these guns from??"

Ichigo shrugged, grinning. "Secret."

Naomi laughed, "it's no secret, you have a key to my place, and you know I keep it stacked in case of emergencies.  And not to mention, I've lived in the same house since you were a child, you know exactly where it is and how to get there."

"Shoot them, y/n, but don't stick your arm too far out of the window."  Ichigo turned back around, confident enough to let you handle it yourself.

You wound the window down and took aim.  You figured you'd settle for the tyres, and maybe they wouldn't be able to catch up.  No one had to be hurt.

Well, until bullets started being aimed at you.  "Remember, y/n, don't stick your whole arm out."  Ichigo warned.  You mainly fired at the ground, missing the car completely.

"For god's sake, y/n, shoot them!"  Naomi snapped.  You aimed higher, and landed your shot in the middle of the windshield.  "Good, keep it up."

You shot again, landing it in the same area, and so there was two smashed areas on their windshield.  That should make it harder for them to see where they were driving, except now you were out of bullets.

"Naomi, do you have any dynamite left?"  Ichigo asked, noting the absence of gunshots coming from you.  Naomi handed him the last stick, and Ichigo lit it.

"Not in the car, you idiot!" Hissed Naomi.  Ichigo laughed, and held it out to you.

"Sorry, auntie. Go on, y/n."

And so you did, you threw the dynamite at the car, ignoring Ichigo's 'don't stick your arm out' rule.  The stick hit the top of the windshield, and bounced over the roof of the car.  You sucked in your breath.  Then it exploded.

Close one, but now the three of you whooped at the absence of pursuers.  Thankfully, the explosion was far back enough that your car hadn't taken significant damage, except for a ruined paint job where a piece of the other car had hit the back.

Now there was no need to worry, so Naomi's reckless driving had ceased.  And so, you all let your guards down, failing to notice the other car on Naomi's side.  Therefore, you and Ichigo didn't notice the danger you were in until Naomi's head jerked to the side from the impact of a bullet.
