Anything that reminded Nancy of that night would send her spiralling into a state of hyperventilation and despair, so she was a little bit surprised when Robin's home seemed to have the opposite effect.

Maybe it was the way that it felt so welcoming and open, but Nancy felt like it was easier to breathe.

Nancy must have zoned out, because a few seconds later, Robin was standing in front of her, with a few bags slung over her shoulders, and concern written all over her face.

Brushing away Robin's worry for her, Nancy stepped forwards attempting to pry the bags off of Robin's arms.

They weren't that heavy, but Robin had insisted that she carry them to the car, and inside the house.

Robin just tightened her grip on the straps, then ushered Nancy forwards.

"I'll bring you to the guest room now, if that's okay with you?" Robin asked, glancing towards Nancy, then the ground awkwardly, yet adorably.

"Yeah- sorry, yes, thank you," Nancy answered, voice quiet.

Nancy followed Robin soundlessly down a short hallway, and pointed the the third on the the right.

"This is your bedroom, mine is just across the hallway, one door down." Robin stated, while placing the bags on a yellow quilt that matched the pastel walls.

"I know you've had a long day," Robin continued. "So if you want to sleep now, I'm cool with that."

When Nancy nodded, Robin was truthfully a little bit thankful, it had been a long day for her as well.

So she made sure Nancy knew where everything was, and that she was comfortable, before Robin shut the door quietly and collapsed onto her own bed with a defeated sigh.

Not bothering to take off her oversized t-shirt, she simply took off her jeans, and grabbed a pair of shorts.

It was amazing how quickly she fell asleep, and even though it was only ten, it felt like it had been days since she had last slept.

She was so ready and eager to surrender to a dreamless bliss.

But, her subconsciousness had other ideas.

(tw, sensitive subjects that were dealt with in previous chapters)

She broke open the door to the bathroom, to she a sight that shocked Robin to her very core.

Nancy, but soaked in blood that was rapidly leaking from her wrists.

She rushed over, to feel that there was no pulse.

She screamed out for help, but it seemed that no matter how loud she cried out, no one came quick enough.

Eventually, a panicked Mrs. Wheeler came barreling into the room, and was thankfully thinking clearly enough to call 911.

There was no pulse, and that was all Robin could think of. no pulse. no pulse. nopulsenopulsenopulse-

It was almost like someone slapped some sense onto her, the way she remembered about CPR.

So, she lay the pale girl down on the cool tiles and began her thirty compressions.

She must have been going at it for about eight minutes, until the first aid responders finally arrived.

And then Robin was filled with hope.

If the hospital workers were there, then Nancy had to be alright.

So Robin instantly became confused when they told her to stop, and tried to pull Robin off of Nancy.

They must not have understood, because Robin was helping Nancy, not making things worse.

She had to keep going.

Her determination grew strong, but that wall of confidence tumbled down with the great impact that two words dealt.

"She's gone."

Robin stumbled back, but she shook her head, and resumed CPR.

But her vision soon became blurry with tears, and her compressions became sloppy as Nancy shows no more signs of life.

(End of dream sequence)

Robin gasped and shot up in her bed.

A sense of guilt and despair overtook her body, a sole thought rising above all the others.

She knew it was just a stupid nightmare, but she needed to make sure that Nancy was okay.

So, without hesitation, she stepped out of her bed, floorboards creaking as she made her way to the hallway.

And, she almost screamed out loud when she opened to door to reveal a fidgeting Nancy.

"wha-" Nancy said when she was enveloped in a hug. Normally, it was her who needed the emotional support, but she was most definitely eager to repay Robin  for some of her kindness.

Without Robin saying anything, she recognized that Robin had experienced a nightmare, since Nancy was no stranger to nightmares herself.

"Is it okay if we-" Nancy stared at the same time Robin said:

"do you mind if we-"

So, together they made their way to Robins bed, all while never letting go of each others embrace.

And while they lay in that bed, Nancy slept well for the first time in ages, and Robin kept one hand resting next to Nancys neck, using the sound of her steady pulse to give herself a sense of safety and comfort.
