Five minutes into the trial, and Nancy still felt like throwing up, unable to make eye contact with Clyde, the man who had sent her whole life tumbling upside down.

Twelve minutes in, and Nancy felt Robin grip her hand tightly, squeezing it twice to remind her that she wasn't alone.

Sixteen minutes in, and Robin felt sick to her stomach with the accusations that Clyde was convincing everyone were true.

Well, mostly everyone, since Robin could still hear Mrs, Wheeler scoffing at everything he was saying.

Twenty eight minutes into the trial, and Nancy still hadn't let go of Robins hand.

It was not looking good for Nancy so far, but having Robin's hand as a reminder of the good things helped Nancy to not spiral into another anxiety attack.

"Now, Mr. Smith," The Judge started. "I would like to see evidence to back up your previous statement."

"I'm sorry?" Clyde began.

"You stated that Miss. Wheeler had communicated with you via letter recently discussing your relationship." The Judge said, repeating what the man had claimed earlier. "Please display the evidence for us now."

Clyde turned a light shade of pink as he stammer out a "w-what?"

"Mr. Smith. You came to court with some very serious accusations, without evidence to back up your claims?" The judge's tone of voice made Robin smile.

Turning towards Nancy, still holding onto her hand, Robin gave her a flash of the hopeful smile, dismissing the fact that Nancy's knuckles on her right hand were a white colour from gripping the side of the chair so tightly.

Nancy gave her a strained smile back, even though she was nauseatingly nervous.

The rest of the trial seemed to blur by, and Nancy still hadn't processed what had just happened.

Clyde had been proven guilty due to lack of evidence, and he was given twenty years of jail time for sexual assault and an extra seven years for lying under oath.

Nancy felt the stress that had been clawing at her insides dissipate, as a slow smile spread across her face.

She turned to robin, joining her other hand to Robin's, so that both of Nancys hands were encased in perfectly warm and slightly calloused ones.

Together they looked into each others eyes, a sense of accomplishment soaring through them.

The judge permitted everyone to leave the room, and Nancy took Robin by surprise, pulling her out of the court room.

Nancy almost felt high off of happiness, true happiness that must have been in its purest form.

Nancy honestly didn't think she'd ever been happier, and she couldn't wipe that stupid grin off of her face, given the fact that she'd never have to see Clyde again.

So maybe it was the pure feeling that overtook Nancy's heart that led her to what she did next.

Robin allowed herself to be pulled around by Nancy, so glad to finally see Nancy smiling.

Nancy led Robin around a few tight turns, before they ended up underneath a staircase that led who knows where, in a small nook.

And Nancy, completely overcome with pure bliss, her stomach buzzing with anticipation, she took her hands out of Robins, placed them both on Robin's curious and unknowing face, and pulled them together so their lips met.
