Chapter 07: ... You Good?

Narrator's POV

It was three in the morning, and Lauren's slowly waking up. She opened her eyes and took some time to figure out where she was. She was in the healing room. She saw Dinah and the girl sleeping in the same room with her. She looked around, recalling what happened. She realized that she was badly injured when she tried to move. She growled subtly. She remembered what happened, and Camila crossed her mind.

"Camz..." Lauren did her best to sit up. She slowly worked to the big window where she could see Camila from the healing room. Camila was unconscious lying in the emergency room. Camila was connected to some devices and was not fully wrapped in a bandage-like Lauren was. Lauren suppressed her growling as she could feel pain all over her body when she walked out of the room to reach the entrance of the emergency room.

Lauren was struggling to walk, and she growled. "Argh..." she hated it when she was helpless like this.

She almost fell, but Dinah caught her. "Careful!"

"Dinah..."

"Do you need something?" Dinah asked.

"I want to see Camila." Lauren was worried.

Dinah looked at Lauren, "she's still unconscious."

"How's she?" Worries were written all over Lauren's face.

"She got shot on her back," Dinah answered briefly. "Doctor Gosling said, she had passed the critical stage. It depends how fast she recovers."

"I didn't know she got shot. She looks fine when she came to the car." Lauren and the rest did not have any idea about it.

"Yeah, me neither. She looked fine. But it's Mila." They knew Camila did not like to make others worried.

"Did she get shot by the police?" Lauren did not see those bad guys using a gun.

"No, Doctor Gosling said it was not the kind of bullet the police used. It must be coming from those unknown bad Ninjas." Dinah told Lauren what she knew.

"Have we found who they are?" Lauren was worried now.

"No, everybody's exhausted after what happened. We'll find it out tomorrow. We need rest, you, too Lauser." Dinah suggested, "Let's get back to your bed!"

Lauren looked at Camila from outside of the emergency room. She studied Camila from head to toes, and she found no wounds. She then realized Camila had it on her back as she was sleeping on her side. It was not big. It must be something serious that she still stayed in the emergency room.

"Mila is strong. I'm sure she will be okay." Dinah tried to comfort Lauren who looked worried.

"Yes, she is." Lauren smiled thinly.

"Do you want to eat something?" Dinah asked.

"Yes, please. I'm hungry." Lauren said.

"Let's get back to the room. I'll get something for you from the kitchen." Dinah suggested.

"Okay." Lauren agreed. She looked at Camila one more time before she walked back to her bed with Dinah's help.

Dinah accompanied Lauren to have her soup and some bread in her bed. They did not talk much since Lauren was still weak and worried, thinking of Camila. She also wanted to know who the bad guys were. She asked Dinah how she was with the fight. Dinah was cool with it. She just had a minor injury. After finishing her meal, Lauren went back to sleep and Dinah as well. Lauren fell asleep thinking of Camila and everything that happened.
