The lake in which she drowned her thoughts and sank her memories hadn't always been so large.
It started as a drip. A slow drip, at that. The drips steadily increased in quantity and speed as more months flew by.
The small damp corner of her mind turned into a spot.
As time passed the spot became a puddle.
The puddle became a small pool.
The small pool became a pond.
The pond grew into a brook.
The brook became a stream.
The stream turned into a river.
The river flowed to the spot and crashed and collected and condensed.
And the smallest drip in the corner of her mind went from unnoticeable to an unavoidable lake.
Still the slow drip continued, and at one point the lake would become an ocean.
