Her mother seemed so sweet to everyone.
So kind.
So caring.
So loving.
So supportive.
So understanding.
She was all of those things, but only sometimes. Often enough she would be so amazing all the bad would fade away and the bleak black darkness would lighten to gray.
Until the inky darkness burst forth from her mother's lungs and mouth, saturating the girl's mind.
These incidents were shoved into the recesses of the girl's memories and drowned in a lake of forgetfulness.
Overflow was inevitable.
And it was all her fault.
