Reality Check

We had only been in class for not even an hour when reality sets in. I remembered that I'm completely powerless without my staff. How am I supposed to learn Illusions and abominations?

I turn to Edric. He fell asleep with his head resting in his hands. "Edric!" I whisper. He doesn't wake up. I tap his shoulder. He doesn't wake up. "EDRIC!" I whisper louder this time. He opens his eyes quickly and realized that I woke him up. He rubbed his eyes and looked at me.

"What?" He groans. "I just realized something really bad!" I whisper to him. "What is it?" He replied. "Edric! Hunter! No talking!" The teacher snaps. "Yes ma'am!" We both say at the same time. I turn back to him. "Anyways- I just remembered I'm powerless without my staff!" I whispered. He looked at the teacher then swirled his finger in the air. "Now we can talk normally." He blurted out. "What? Oh! You used a illusion!" I laugh, even though nothing right now is funny. "Yeah" He shrugged. "Now- you're powerless!?" I look around and nod. "I'm only half witch.." I reply. "Wow" He was pretty shocked. "Okay. So, we're going to talk to Principle Bump about this- I know what to do." "How are we supposed to leave class?!" I question.

He raised his hand then the illusion was gone. "Yes Edric?" The teacher says. "Me and hunter feel sick- can we see the-" He fake coughs, "nurse?" He replies to her. "Oh, yes please." Said the teacher. Edric stood up and held his hand out to me. I grabbed his hand and pulled myself up. We walked out the classroom. I don't think he noticed- but we were holding hands, and everyone was staring at us.

"So, now we head to Principle Bumps office!" He confidently said. We walked to his office. I still don't think he noticed that we were holding hands.

After a couple of minutes, we got to Principle Bumps office. Edric looked at our hands and I can see his face turning  pink. He pulls his hand away and knocks on the door. "You may come in." Principle Bump says. Edric opened the door and we walked inside the room. "Oh, Hunter, you're back.. with Edric Blight." He replied, he almost seemed shocked.

"Well, Hunter just remembered something very important." Edric says. "Really? What could be so impor-" "Hunter remembered he is powerless. He can't do magic without his staff." Edric interrupted. "What? Hunter, is this true?" Principle Bump replies. I nod. "I'm only half witch. I can't do magic. I only have witch features." I mutter out. "Wow, so I'm going to let you slide, just this once. I will let you use your staff to learn how to use magic. I will let all your teachers know. But, until you are able to get a wand, you have to use your staff, but do, try to use your finger like the other students." I nod. "I understand"
