Caught Red Handed

I stood up quickly not breaking eye contact with mom. "Edric Blight! You get over here immediately! And you!" She shouted, pointing at Hunter at the end of the sentence. Hunter stared at her. I didn't look back at him. I slowly walked toward mom.

She pulled me by my collar of my shirt and pushed me outside. Luz walked inside the owl house as mom shouted at me. "You little maniac! I might as well disown you!! I didn't think I had raised you like this, what did I do wrong? I raised you so well- just for you to go and kiss the golden guard! What do you have to say for your self young man?!"

I took a deep breath, before speaking, "Mother, Hunter, is not the golden guard anymore- he left the emperor's coven." She looked at me in shock. "Now- you're telling me, he does wild magic?!" I'm pretty sure you could hear her a mile away. "I never said that, he takes the Illusion track and abomination track."

She still looked at me in disbelief. Amity walked out and stood next to mom. Mom grabbed my wrist and slapped me across my face. "Don't you talk back to me!" I held back my tears until we got home.

We got home and mom sent me up to my room. I closed my door and sat on my bed. I sighed as my eyes filled with tears. Emira knocked on my door and opened it slowly. She walked in closing the door behind her. "Hey, Ed" she said. She walked over and sat next to me. "Amity told me what happened.. it kind of wasn't cool of you to just kiss him like that-" I looked at her, I couldn't believe that she had just said that.

"What?" I stutter. "It wasn't cool of you to just- you know. Kiss Hunter. You know Amity hates that kid, so you could've at least told her that you like him beforehand" she addressed. "You seriously just walked into my room- to tell me, that I shouldn't have kissed Hunter? Do you even know what she did? She told mom that I kissed him! You don't even know what happened and you come and tell me that!" I snapped at her. Her eyes widened as she stood up.

"I didn't know that she told mom, she just told me that you kissed him" she admitted. I started to sob. Of course Amity would only tell half of the story!

Hunters POV

I stood in front of the couch, shocked at what I just witnessed. Luz walked up to me. "Hunter..?" She asked quietly. I didn't respond. I just watched my cru- my friend get taken away by his mom. His sister basically just ruined his live- as revenge for kissing her enemy! "Hunter, are you ok?" Luz asked.

A few minutes had gone by of me just standing there. "Are you ok?" Luz asked again. I snap out of my trance and look at her. "Uh- y-yeah, I'm fine." I assured her. "I'm going to go t-to bed now" I stammered as I walk up the stairs. I run into my room, and lay on my bed, not changing my clothing.

After around a hour of laying in my bed, Luz came in. She got clothes and left to go change. She came back in pajamas. She layed in her bed and fell asleep. I couldn't sleep, I couldn't get my mind off of what happened earlier. I grabbed a book from my bag. I read the book to get my mind off of it.

After a couple of hours, I put the book against the wall, as I had finished it. I looked at the moon out the window. I imagined sneaking out and going to the Blight Manor to visit Edric. I thought about it for awhile. Then, I grabbed my staff and got up.
