ALESSANDRO'S POV
I walked down the hallways, switching off lights after another. It was two hours past midnight, we came back home four hours ago. I crashed in my bedroom and got knocked out for almost four hours. I woke up about twenty minutes ago, next to Akila who was wide awake.
I felt a massive amount of energy and went on a hunt around the house, a hunt for opened lights. I sound like a mother.
I was supposed to grab something to eat for Akila and I. She seemed too busy with work, she came back home and went straight to papers and files while I fell asleep. This sounds horrible.
I made it down the stairs and entered the kitchen. Everyone was sound asleep, Dante and Emilion rushed into their rooms, sleeping right away. The rest of the house was way too deep into their dreams to notice our arrival. I opened one of the pantries, I took out some chocolate cookies and two bags of chips.
I checked on the lights twice before going up the stairs. The weather was calm and steady, no wind, no rain, just plain decent temperature weather. It hasn't rained in Sicily in a while, I miss those thunderstorms that would hit us from time to time. They're the absolute best.
Imagines of what happened hours ago appeared in my head little by little. After Akila scared off Valentina and revealed herself to Paolo, she told us to follow her. The five of us with her in the lead went to the back of the house and she showed us, she showed off what she brought with her.
And since that instant, Paolo leaned much more into her. She said all the weapons will be kept in my house until we divide them equally. Then she led us back into the house, we went back to the room with a broken door and explained more to Paolo. I didn't mention anything about Akila's past nor answered Paolo's idiotic questions about her escape when it was obvious she will not be giving an answer and so wouldn't I. Eventually, he realized how important she was and how much I respected her, so he took his turn. Akila was a quiet woman with short words but not in a shy way. She was quiet and let out short sentences in a way she didn't need to prove nor speak to earn respect and get her orders done.
She didn't make an appearance in front of my men. She didn't tell me why or what was on her mind but I followed her instructions. She finished her work in the warehouse and got in her car, driving back to the house. I assured my men that the person who broke in was a friend messing around and left after her. But of course before I wasn't able to leave peacefully, Paolo pulled me to the side alone. He asked me the same question again, "What is happening to you?"
He assumed Akila's and I relationship and I only stared at him. When he was done, I walked away not speaking a word. He called himself right and that I was busted.
I wanted to ask how exactly, however, Dante and Emilion made sure to take care of that part. I got into the car and sighed loudly when Dante said, "If you're wondering how he figured it out, it's the way you look at her." He spoke first, and Emilion added, "And the way you follow her demands with no further questions. No one knows you as a person who take anything from anyone but with her, you would bring down the world for her."
"So it's easy to assume, in the end Akila is a very beautiful attractive woman, it's not hard to guess you would drop everything for her." Bastard piece of shit. I had to focus on what he was saying instead of holding into the fact he just called her beautiful and attractive. I mean I know she is. Hell, it kills me inside out and I know anyone who lays an eye on her instantly thinks of her in an intimate way or admires her beauty and fearless walk, the "I can swallow your soul and make it beg." attitude she radiated as she took steps forward but it still angered me listening to another man talk about her in that way.
