"Chrissy!"

———

I sat in the boiler room once again, just trying to clear my head. God knows after everything that happened yesterday I deserve it.

This morning Eddie's uncle came by to pick him up. Poor boy had the worst day of his life yesterday. His entire life was flipped upside down in the span of a few hours.

The door to the boiler room opened and in stepped Peter, who's eyes immediately fixated themselves on me.

His eyebrows furrowed, "What's wrong with you?"

I rolled my eyes, "Well, I don't think it's really any of your business." I quote him from our first time meeting here.

He deadpans at me, "Very funny."

I lean my head back against the wall as he sits down next to me.

   "My neighbor was murdered."

Peter turns to look at me, "Is this the same one who told you when you really moved in?"

I nod, "But how could they have known, the only person I told was-"

I inhale sharply, "You and Michelle...."

Peter sighs and shakes his head, "If you're implying what I think your implying, then I would like to point out that by telling you what I know, I've put myself at an extraordinary risk."

Thinking on it for a moment, I realize he's right. If he were to wrong me like that there would be too big of a chance that I would just come out and expose him like that.

I gasp slightly when I realize the only other person who could have done this.

   "Michelle..." I whisper.

Peter nods, "I wouldn't be surprised, she's been trying to win Brenner's favor ever since she got stuck here."

Still not being able to come to full terms with the fact that Michelle ratted me out, "I- I don't understand."

Peter sighed once more, "Michelle heard a strange noise and decided it would be a good idea to explore... I'm not sure what she found, but it left her a prisoner here."

I shook my head in shock, "She ratted Katherine out."

Tears form in my eyes, "It's my fault."

He rolled his eyes, "Don't be stupid."

His patronizing words went right over my head, "I'm so stupid. I'm so stupid."

    "Christina, calm down."

My breathing gets heavier and I feel like I can't breathe, "Eddie's mom is dead because- because of me. It's my faults"

I grasp my chest, not being able to tell if my heart has stopped beating entirely, or if it's beating way too fast.

"Hey," Peter grabs both of my shoulders, "breathe."

   "I ca- I can't." I rasp out.

Hot tears run down my face. God, I was so stupid. If I knew I couldn't trust Brenner then why on earth did I trust Michelle? She betrayed me. She ruined Eddie's life...

   I ruined Eddie's life.

   I killed Katherine.

   "Christina!" Peter shouted.

I shook my head, "She'd dead. Sh- She's dead!"

I choked out, "I killed her!"

Peter swung one of his legs over my lap, straddling me. He put both of his hands on either side of my face, "Chrissy!"

I looked him dead in the eye, "Pe- Peter, It's all my fault."

"It's Michelle's fault, Christina. The only thing you did wrong was falsely accuse yourself."

He wipes my tears away with his thumbs, "I might not know you very well, but I know you well enough to know that you would never intentionally hurt anyone, ok?"

   I nod.

I feel him stiffen up when I wrap my arms around his back. I could tell that he didn't know what to do, and wasn't use to these types of interactions. I also knew that it was probably out of place for me to hug him, we don't know each other that well, and he's an ass.

As I felt his arms wrap around me, all of my previous regrets flew away. I felt safe.

I still had tears on my cheeks as I pulled away from him, yet I laughed at the situation.

"I think the roles are supposed to be reversed." I said, referring to him straddling me.

He looked down at our compromising position and immediately threw himself off of me, clearly not finding it as amusing as I did.

I inhale, wiping away the tears on my face, "Thank you, Peter."

He nods, "Don't get used to it."

I huff out a laugh at him returning to his cold demeanor, seconds after he was practically sitting on my lap.

He stands up with the intention to leave.

"Bye, Peter." I say right before he leaves the room.

He looks back at me, studying my face for a moment before saying, "Goodbye, Chrissy."

   Without another word, he leaves.

I need to to confront Michelle, but I can save that for tomorrow. Right now, I really need some good sleep.

But help me god, when I do confront her, hell will be raised, and not even satan himself could amount to the pure fury that will be directed at her.
