"welcome to the zone." hyunjin half shouted in their mind link as they are running in their wolf form towards where the river meets the magma. the zone, the border between two different kinds, the vampires and the wolf shifters.

vampires and werewolves are enemies for as long as anyone remembered. they are the only kinds that until now doesn't have a truce or an agreement. even the fairies and vampires had already made some agreement but the shifters and the other would always be stubborn.

"this doesn't feel right." changbin stated in their mind link once again. they stopped with yeonjun and beomgyu trailing behind them.

"a mission is a mission, changbin-hyung. let's not waste half a month of travelling just to back out." beomgyu answered back, leaving minho deep in his thoughts.

this feels so easy. minho thought.

"let's keep an eye in the border for awhile before we approach it further. i also don't feel good with this, my wolf says so." minho then shifted back to his human skin and took some clothes in a bag that is tied in yeonjun's back.

"nice dick." hyunjin laughed and soon shifted as well, taking a robe in the same bag where minho took his clothes. minho only rolled his eyes.

"it's a waste of clothes so i'll just wear this." the other two, changbin and beomgyu, shifted as well and did the same with minho as they silently sat down a few meters far from the borderline.

leaving yeonjun in his wolf form, the lad only laid down beside beomgyu. his light brown fur with grey specs are fluffy as ever and beomgyu patted the older wolf.

"take some rest, yeonjun." minho nodded at the wolf's direction and yeonjun only answered with a low whine as he leaned further in beomgyu's touch.

"i'm here, hyung, don't worry about the guarding." hyunjin gave a thumbs up to the almost sleeping wolf and changbin snorted.

"as if. don't worry, jun, i'll tie hyunjin and beomgyu to you so they won't cause troubles." minho then chuckled at that. he knows how the two are so energetic and chaotic together.

"beombeom, don't i look expensive in this black silk robe?" hyunjin even posed in front of the sitting beomgyu who only glared and raised his fists as if he will punch the soon to be knight.

knight, yes, the highest position of the guards of the alpha. well, minho will be the soon to be alpha and changbin is the beta. that leaves the guarding positions to the three; hyunjin, beomgyu, and yeonjun.

changbin was about to say a sassy remark about hyunjin's robe but they all stilled when they heard a laugh nearby.

minho's head immediately whipped back to the borderline and there they saw four vampires having fun in the riverside.

"uh ... hyung? is ... is that the royal vampires?" beomgyu's cautious and attentive eyes caught how minho's eyes widened in surprise and changbin's body visibly tensed.

"yes .... they are the royals, judging by their clothes." hyunjin was the one to answer and the once laying down yeonjun stood up straight and nudged beomgyu with his head, gesturing for him to stand up as well.

the alpha and the beta looked at each other's eyes and both nodded. a mission is a mission after all.

"what was the mission again?" beomgyu whispered beside yeonjun and the wolf groaned lowly.

"take the last line of royals. back to our district. alpha taemin wants to talk to them about something." yeonjun answered in their mind link, knowing that the other three won't answer beomgyu.
