"We're the freaks because we like to play a fantasy game." Eddie with crossed arms stated as he stared into abyss before looking at his friend sitting beside him. There's a pause before he spoke again. "But-" Eddie leans to one side "-as long as you're in a band" he stands up on the table. "or science..." he starts walking down the lunch table slowly and sneeringly continues listing "...or partieeesss" Eddie stops at the end of the table and faces towards the football team, loudly continues speaking while putting both of his arms up to his mouth "or a game where you toss balls into laundry baskets...". Y/n looks up from her book towards the commotion and sees the so called 'freak' yelling towards her table.

"Loser!" a student exclaimed as the captain of the basketball team Jason, got up from his seat and stepped towards Eddie. "You want something freak?" clearly offended Jason loudly asked. Eddie puts both his index fingers beside his head, trying to impression horns while sticking his tongue out and spluttering. The captain just stood there in silence. Eddie chuckles and y/n can't help but to let out a small laugh too. He then notices you and smiles at your reaction while dropping his hands beside him, it was like it was his goal all this time to make you laugh. The basketball captain just mutters under his breath "prick" before returning to his seat.

"Did you seriously laugh at that?" annoyed he asked you yet you remained silent and returned your gaze back your book with a smile on your face.

Eddie now back in his seat continues to eat his lunch. Dustin stared at Eddie for a bit before interrupting his peace. "So who were you smiling at?" Dustin smirks. Eddie shot his glance up at the boy before looking back down at his lunch "I wasn't smiling at anyone." "Yes you were, you were smiling at y/n y/l/n." Dustin continues to push the conversation further on. "Wow" Mike commented. "What?" Eddie looks at Mike and Dusting confused. "They're way out of your league-" "So?" Eddie still confused with what's the problem. "I'm just saying, no way are you going to get them to like you, or even speak to them. We know how they are--" Dustin widens his eyes a bit and looks away while talking. "-Wait, you know them?" "Yeah, we've been through a lot of things together in the past few years." Dustin adds, looking back at Eddie confused, as if Eddie was supposed to know they're friends with y/n y/l/n. "Speaking of the devil..." Mike notices you walking towards their table and Eddie looks in the direction of you. He then stands up quickly and smirks as he steps back out of your way and gestures with his arm for you to continue to walk. Y/n doesn't notice him or anyone staring at them as their attention is focused on their book.

The whole table laughs and Eddie follows you with his eyes. "We told you." Dustin continues to laugh. Eddie just smirks and waits for you to disappear around. "Shut up!" Eddie grabs everyone's attention. "Can I level with you?" looking at Dustin and Mike he asks but clearly not expecting an answer. "Jeff graduates this year." he points at one of the guys sitting at their table. Eddie starts walking past the table, still holding his gaze with the boys. "Gareth's got, what? A year and a half." Now directly behind Jeff and Gareth. "Me-" Eddie points at himself. "-I am army-crawling my way towards a D in Ms O'Donnell's." he exaggerates. "If I don't blow her final," he bites his bottom lip and turns away from them smiling. "I'm gonna walk that stage next month," he rocks a bit forward and back continuously as he walks. "I'm gonna look Principle Higgins dead in the eye," Dustin and Mike are now both smiling as they follow Eddie with their gaze. Eddie pauses for a bit "I'm gonna flip him the bird," now standing at the other end of the table, he holds up his middle finger demonstrating what he'll do. "and I'm gonna snatch that diploma. I'm gonna run like hell out of here." Dustin laughs as Eddie excitedly shakes and runs away.
