Chapter 36: Disappointment

Bangalore

Viren sees an unknown man lying on the floor in a pool of his own blood. The things were scattered, he looks around frightened. His eyes were searching for his sister, he desperately marched inside.

He heard silent cries of her, he goes behind the couch and sees Manvi sitting on the floor folding her legs up to her knees. She was shivering badly, he gets on his knees and keeps his hand on her face. She looks up fearfully, she instantly hugs him and takes heavy breaths.

He rubs his fingers in his hair and tries to calm her down "shh.. Shh.. kuch nahi hai aa gaya hun na main"

She looks up and points toward the person. She tries to explain what he was trying to do and she ends up hitting him with the vase as she was unable to shout for help. Though he didn't understand a single movement the scenario was enough to make him realize what had happened.

He tucks her hair behind her ear "samajh gaya sab.. " he assures her.

He makes her stand and makes her sit on the couch. She was in extreme fear, she might have killed him.

“kyu akela choda Viren? Bhagwan na kare kuch ho jaata toh!!"

"bol waise sakti nahi hai ye.. Ab ye marr warr gaya toh lene ke dene padh jayenge"

The other neighbor commented.

Viren remains silent and just consoles his sister.

The police arrives, and the inspector asked "ye sab kisne kiya?"

Manvi held Viren's arm tightly, he keeps his hand on hers assuring her not be scared. He informs "ye ghar mein chori karne aaya tha! Meri behen ke akele hone ka fayda utha raha tha.. Apne self defence mein meri behen ne iske sarpe maara"

"Jawab aap kyun de rahe hai?" he asked.

"Bezuban hai meri behen" Viren said.

"Acha? Toh aapko kaise pata ye sab hua?" Inspector questions.

"Bhai hun uska! Sab ache se samajh sakta hun..." he informed.

"Acha.. lekin aapki behen ko police station aana hoga!" the inspector said.

Shruti interrupts "inspector... ye chor hai! Hum sabne iss ghar se awaaz suni thi! Toh aap isko leke jayie.."

The inspector looks at her and but wasn't convinced. Shruti takes him to the side and explains everything. The man is taken away, some cleaners clean the blood from the floor while Supriya arranges things to place.

Viren eyed at Shruti... She told him that she was coming back from work and heard some sounds. " ye darwaza khol nhi rhi thi toh mujhe sabko bulake tudwana pada"

Viren was inside the room with Manvi, she was still thinking about the incident. How she was unable to shout? Even if she had called him on phone how would se speak that she is in danger?

Viren tries to calm her down but she pushed him away. "I am sorry.. Mujhe nahi jaana chahiye tha tujhe chodke" he said.

She was annoyed, and frustrated as she was unable to express her emotions. She throws away the things, Viren held her hand and said "mannu shant please..."

She pushed him away and he ends up dropping to the floor.  She runs out of the room, Viren feared she might do anything to her in anger. He gets up and follows her but she rushes out of the flat. 

She was descending the stairs, Viren held her wrist to stop her "mannu ruk.. kaha jaa rahi hai" 

She jerked his hand to which she lost her control and slips through the stairs and after some time she was on the floor with lots of blood flowing from her head. Viren shouts "mannu" in a state of shock.
