42. Taken

After an hour of sex I looked over at all the messages that blew up my phone.. 9 unread messages from Hank. I didnt read them I already knew what they said. In the just of it all "where the fuck are you", yeah got it.

Denny was busy in the shower and I got up to dress in a hurry.. I would be late if I didnt hurry..

I was about to leave when Denny walked in with his towel..

You leaving me already.

Got work so yeah.  I spout as I put on my shoes.

What about later he said sweetly as he pulled me in his arms.

I pulled from his grasp slick like.. I'll call you..

Hey he tugged at my arm to stop me from rushing away.. Your gonna call me right..

Thats what I said. I answered in an irritated tone.

All I could think about the whole way to work was how much of an idiot I had been. I mean, Denny! Really! What was I thinking. Sex wasn't even that good. I was angry at myself for letting him touch me after what he did to me.

I finally got to med and printed off my list of meds to refill, grabbed my inventory and left the pharmacy.. I hurried to ED to find Crockett.

He was busy at the computer when I walked in..

Hey its still cool if I stay at your place.. I'll have Lily.

Sure the more the merrier or whatever. He shrugged.

Great. I laughed he was so cute when he tried to be funny.. I watched him do his thing as a patient with severe injuries rushed in from the abulance. He had a cocky confidence that was extremely attractive. Made me think about how badly I've always been to the man. He deserves so much more than any one person could give. I definitely didn't deserve his friendship or his love.

After shift I waited for him to finish his duties then called Rosa to have her bring Lily to me then we followed Crockett home..

My phone was still blowing up with messages that I refused to answer.. even Jay had reached out to make sure I was ok.

Jay I'm fine, tell him I'm staying with Crockett for a few days till things calm down.

That's fine Shay but you do realise there is still a threat don't you?

I think that all of you are overreacting but sure Jay a threat ill keep that in mind.

We could pull you in and hold you if we wanted just remember that when your avoiding all our calls. He was pissed and I guess I didn't blame him but it is what it is.

Soon as we got home I passed out.

The next morning I woke to giggling and the smell of coffee and made my way to the kitchen.

Waffles or pancakes. He smiles his childish grin in hopes to amuse her.

Pancakes with fruit. You got fruit cuz momma says I have to have a little bit of healthy and all that doesn't look healthy uncle C. She shook her head and scowled at the can of whip cream he had sat next to the milk.

I got fruit. I like my pancakes happy with smiles and shapes.. You like shapes don't you?

Yeah!!! I like shapes she clapped.

Good cuz I like my cakes loaded. Mom will understand. He whispered dramatically.

Shay stood around the corner listening. Holding in a laugh so she didn't ruin the moment between the two.

I poked my head around the corner letting him catch me spying. He looked up and winked at me as I made my way to the breakfast bar.

Shay and Crockett and lily get done with breakfast shay waits for Rosa to pick up lily.

So why is Hank being so anal with you, there something you haven't told me.

No he still being over dramatic with that threat from before.

If it were I'd be dead or kidnapped. Honestly I think its his way of keeping me in line.

He always was good with the dramatics.

So, shapes huh?  I changed the subject.  Cute.

Well its one of my better qualities he admits shaking his shoulders innocently.

No I love your cooking. She laughs as she rubs the rim of her cup in distraction. Sometimes I wonder why we never made another go of it. I added.

Thats your fault he joked as he wagged his perfect brown brow at her.

I was quiet for a second as he stared curiously at me.. No...

No! Why not. He wrinkled his forehead.

He gives her a gentle smile. You love Hank things will work themselves out. Just give it time. He said in a reassuring tone.
He kisses her. Just so you know I would never do that to you. Put you in that position because I love you to much. He winks at her before rinsing her plate.

When they leave the apartment they get taken by oliver.

Crockett pushes shay back before stepping in the line of fire. He was taller and stronger than her. Little effort on his part to keep her where she stood.

Oliver frustrated steps closer the gun at arms length soon pressing against Crockett chest.

No I tugged at Crockett but he stood firm.. then Oliver hit Crockett over the head. I struggled with Oliver to stop him but he kept hitting him in the head with the bud of his pistol.

Please stop I will go with you but don't hurt him. I screamed. I leaned down to help my best friend but Oliver pulled me away and held his gun to Crockett as I fought.

Alright alright.. he dragged me to get into the truck and we sped away.

Crockett

My eyes started to adjust to the light still heavy from the dizziness. As I came to police had just arrived and the sirens from the ambulance could be heard bouncing from the walls of the buildings on the street.

Panic set in as I remembered the man taking Shay away. I rushed to warn police. Voight, Hank Voight I cried as I held my head in the palm of my hand. Blood already dripping down my face. Bastard got me good still the pain was no match for the extreme terror I felt at loosing my friend.

I struggled but EMT set me up to get me to med. When I arrived Intelligence was waiting. Voight looked worried like he already knew what had happened. Shay was taken. I've never seen the guy so upset.

I explained what had happened then PD scattered and left me to get stitched up.  My night seemed to drag.  I was so anxious and worried that I just drifted through my shift.  I barely remember anything.  It was a good thing the night was slower than most.

I felt like the night would never end.
