Janice. (Fast forward one week..)

Oh excuse me. Janice had just came in to check on her friend who was lying still on the hospital bed.

There was a hospital fire lower level a few days past and somehow Shay had got caught up in it all. Police said she was lucky to have made it out alive. One pharmacy personnel wasnt so lucky. I hoped she didnt know him personally. They say that someone intentionally lit the fire and knocked her out hoping she wouldn't make it out.

Shay looked so weak and vulnerable that it was difficult to take in. She always seemed so full of life that it was difficult to imagine anyone wanting to hurt her. Well not really. I admitted thinking about everyone that couldn't stand her.

"No your good im just keeping watch." Officer burgess said. "Do you mind if you keep watch for few minutes while I get coffee ill make it quick."

"Please." She responded as she looked down at her friend. Her eyes darted back up as Dr Choi walks in to check on her.

"Your friend will be fine in my opinion."

"Thank you. You know she has a bit of a crush on you." Janice admitted to him..

He smiles as if he was used to hearing things like that. "Let me know if she wakes."

The thought that someone was capable of burning down a hospital was hard enough to take in but that maybe there might be someone looking to harm her was almost too much to think about. What could she have possibly done to deserve such treatment is beyond me. The police lookouts and the investigations were not enough to give me hope.

Then Dr Marcel walks in. "Hey any changes?"

"No. Your worried?"

"Of course I'm worried." Dr Marcel scrunched up his forehead in defense.

"Well She did share her concerns about you. She told me you were upset with her. She hurt you right."

"Listen Janice I would never hurt Shay ok yeah I was hurt but I'm not angry at shay I never was. Really I had nothing to do with this."

Burgess walks back in. "So did someone intentionally hurt her or..." Janice looked towards Burgess her eyes desperate to understand. Maybe she just needed reassuring.

"We think the fire was deliberate and she may have saw someone she shouldn't have so yeah just a percussion. She's probably safe."

Janice looked down on her friend once more just as her eyes begin to open.

"Hey how do you feel." Janice grabbed to squeeze Shays hand. "I'll go get Dr Choi.

"What happened?" she reaches out to hold me back from leaving.

Officer burgess introduced herself. "Do you remember anything that night?"

Shay looked away to remember any piece of information she could although her thoughts and mind where still groggy from sleep. "I remember being pulled away from the smoke. He was pretty." she said with a smile. "We were being evacuated" she added remembering. She took a second before continuing. "I was distracted by arguing. Maybe three guys. I'm not sure its fuzzy."

" What about George Hernandez did you know him at all?"

"I didn't know him I spoke to him once but that was it. Did something happen to him?"

"He was found later after the fire. He had a bullet wound found in his chest. If you remember anything else here is my card."

"Hey officer,, Am I safe?"

"I can't really say yet its too soon. For now you'll have police standing outside your room."

Doctor rushes in. Shining his light again. "Dr Choi we have to quit meeting like this." Shay joked.

"Two concussions in three weeks let me just say that your way of getting my attention is not benefiting you. How about you just walk up and start up a conversation that will at least keep your head in tact." He joked.

"I'll try that." Shay laughed wearily then ended with a cough.

"Dr Crockett was asking about you.. He's been worried.. You want me to grab him For you?"

"Please." I smiled..

"I'll grab him. For now you rest and we watch to make sure there will be no complications and if by tomorrow your still doing well you can go home." Sound good.

"Thanks doc."

Crockett came in and smiled as he took my hand. "You had me worried. You look so much better. I wanted to care for you but Choi has a serious issue with anyone getting in his way. Besides its policy that if you have any type of relationship to the patient you can't care for them."

"Relationship wow you do know that this isn't a relationship right."

"Thats not what I meant. Please dont worry about that right now. I'm just here as a friend."

Shay finally gets up to walk. First destination the restroom. She stares back at her reflection in the mirror. Her face was puffy and her left eye was bruised.

"Who would do this to me" she began to cry as Marcel held her hand.

Shay

By the next morning all seemed well. No more headache, dizziness, and my lungs seemed to clear up nicely.

Dr Halstead walked in to release me. "So everything looks good so you should be cleared to go. How would that sound?"

"Yeah how soon can I get back to work?"

"I would take the day but you should be ok to get back when you feel up to it and remember any reoccurring dizziness should always be looked at right away."

"Sure."

"Your gonna need a ride. From what I understand the police already got that covered. Escorts and your friend seems eager to care for you."

"Oh by the way I don't know if you have had the chance to make it to Mollys its in Bucktown off the corner of Cortlan St. Everyone will be there. Its sort of a common get together bar for hospital crew. Owned and operated by our Firehouse 51. Even our police show themselves to hang out. Its a group get together for all our service providers that includes you now. Anyway there will be a fundraising event on Friday for raising money for the hospital fire. Just thought you might want to show. Its for a good cause. Maybe I can introduce you around."

"Yeah maybe."

When Janice and I had got to my place I felt like not being alone.. I decided to at least make an appearance. Janice tried to get out of it before I played the guilt card on her then she gave in.

"So Crockett you can tell me. Was it him?"

"No Janice I promise Crockett wouldn't hurt me ok."

After that she calmed down a little. She had more trust issue's than I did.
