After everything Reese had really been enjoying her time away from life threatening situations. The summer had been great. She had gone camping with her family, which was kind of horrible. She had never ever hated nature so much. She had gotten stuck in plants and trees. She had been chased by multiple insects and later on stung by some. It was a nightmare.
The long distance relationship with Steve was going great. She had been using the phone in the lobby to call him once in the week until she was out of money. That ment she had to work on her vacation. Though it wasn't great to spend more then two weeks apart in the beginning of a relationship they had worked it out.
"Reese!" Her niece yelled. She looked up, taking her hand from under her head. "Mhm?" She hummed. Her nephew laughed. "Where is your head at?" He asked, looking at his sister and Reese. His sister laughing with him. "Still thinking about that guy with the great hair?" She asked. "You know, I still don't believe he has hair that good."
"Well, he does." Reese shrugged, her cousins laughing. Megan, her niece, and Simon, her nephew, had been her best friends in this time of crisis. The nature had actually grown to hate Reese. "Reese, hunny! Your mother is looking for you, you're going home." Her grandmother then interrupted.
Reese got up. Megan and Simon stood up, both giving the girl a tight hug. "See you guys on the next birthday coming." She smiled at them, the two smiling. They walked over to the, now fully loaded, car."You're finally seeing Stevie again, huh?" Jane asked, Reese nodding excitingly. "Excited I see." She smiled at her daughter who nod again.
She said goodbye to her family and Jane and Reese got in the car. "Reese, next time take your boyfriend with you!" Her aunt yelled and Reese shot her head up at her mother. "You told them?" She asked her mom who held up her hands. "I thought it wouldn't matter!" She yelled back. Reese held her hand to her forehead. Great.
..
After three hours of driving they were finally home. Reese rushed out of the car, towards her house. "Thank god I'm back, thank god." She said. "Reese, you get that you're gonna have to help me unload the car, right?" She asked her daughter who sighed heavily. Jane sighed. "Fine, go call Steve first." She finally said. Reese jumped up excitingly and ran inside. She dialed his number in quickly. No answer. He was at work, obviously. She dialed the phone number of Scoops Ahoy.
"Hello?" A female voice sounded into the phone, Robin. She had spoken her on the phone before. More time than you'd think. "Robin, hey!" Reese spoke back. Robin gasped. "You're back! Dingus, call for you!" She yelled, handing the phone to someone.
"Hello?" Steve's voice sounded into the phone. "Hey!" Reese shouted into the phone excitingly. Steve smiled as soon as he heard her voice. "Reese! Are you almost coming home?" He asked. Reese leaned against the wall. "I am already home." She smiled.
Steve gasped. "Shit." He breathed out making Reese's smile drop. "I can't get out of here 'till the shop closes." He told her. Reese sighed. "That's okay. I'll see you tomorrow than." She smiled lightly. Steve sighed. "I'm really sorry, I'll see you tomorrow, okay?" He asked, Reese nod. "See you tomorrow." She said and Steve hang up.
Reese's smile dropped and she sighed, putting the phone back. She walked outside again. "Is Steve coming over later?" Jane asked as she handed Reese a few bags. "He's stuck at work. I'll see him tomorrow." She smiled lightly and walked inside again. Yes, she was slightly disappointed but he couldn't do anything about it.
