It's november 3rd and I already feel like a frozen river

Stuck in time.

In the hollow nights we hear the loud howls of a mysterious animal.

Every day at noon there's a gift on the steps of the few lonely houses.

There's one lonely house different from the rest.

The house has a mustard yellow and has dark orange brown brinks.

The door is red.

Like a true golden apple.

December is the time I remember as a kid.

The howells would always grow lounder.

And I wasn't allowed to play outside by myself.

With little past memories I remember the time my father and my older brother were playing basketball.

I had my little tracksuit outfit on.

All pink from head to toe.

And I came out and grabbed the ball and started to play by myself.

You're probably asking if I knew not to go outside by myself in the backyard.

Why did I go anyway?

I thought it was waggy.

So I disobeyed and went anyway.

My brother and father thought my mom gave me the all good to go.

When my brother went in to get a cold drink of water.

My father went in as well.

Forgetting I was out.

I made my first jump shot and I turned around to see them not there.

Cheering myself on.

I turn back forward and I see the thing that was howling.

I fall back on my back.

And I only did the only thing I could do.

I screamed.

My father and brother see me out of the window.

My brother comes out running with a basket of lemon.

Then my father comes out with a blue/silver bat.

Then my father tells my brother to throw him the ball.

And the wolf is still keeping it's eyes on me doing many doubletakes.

My father hits the lemon with he's big baseball bat.

And hits the wolf right in the nose.

The wolf slowly walks to my father, giving him the death eye.

And my father does it right back.

My brother gives me the eyes to come into the house.

I was near the red door.

I slowly get up and make my way to the red door.

I trip on the steps the wolf turns back and come looking for me near the red door.

I get back fast and open the door and run in and when the wolf is about to catch me I slam the door on its face.

My brother and my father start throwing lemons and the wolf runs off to the cave.

They come running inside our house closing the sliding door.

I'm laying on the floor looking up at them.

I could see how worried I made them.

They once asked me why I wasn't worried.

I looked at them and said because family is forever and nothing will break that.

Nothing can take that away from me.

They seemed shocked that I even said that.

I mean yes I was maybe like 4 years old at the time.

They sat me up and they said I was really something.

Like special and there's something about me that everyone will love.

I laughed thinking it was some kind of joke.

Now I look back on those memories.

For a 16 year old I get what they meant.

They meant that even if people didn't understand me I would always do everything with a good heart.
