It was just another day in Vesuvia, a few customers dropped by the shop. Most of them wanted a reading, one or two actually bought ingredients. Nonetheless it's been a slow day, Asra left a week ago, they should be back by today, maybe this is what's making the day go by slower.

Portia came by once to check on me, "Don't just sit here sulking y/n! They'll be here soon." She is right of course, but that didn't really make it easier. Ever since the whole 'fighting the devil,' thing we haven't been apart for this long, it makes me anxious.

It didn't really help that Faust went with him, leaving me completely alone in the shop. I've missed waking up in a warm embrace, or having to watch my step since Faust is fast and careless. I tried to keep myself busy to make the hours go by faster, but nothing seemed to work. It was almost as if the shop was stuck in time.

I wasn't completely alone of course. Tuesday I had tea with Nadia, and the day before Julian took half of the town to the Rowdy Raven. But no matter how many people I was around no one could make up for Asra...

It was around midday when I closed the shop, and decided to take a walk to clear my head. The whole day I kept thinking about them, it was starting to give me headaches.

On my way out, I met with some of the townspeople. Hey mostly walked by without saying much, but one or two waved or said "hello." Minutes passed and I found myself at the bakery, the baker had always been a great friend to me and Asra. Especially when he helped on his escape, just the thought of that day makes me snicker to myself.

"Afternoon y/n!" The baker greeted me with joy, the sent of the fresh baked bread filled the air around me. It always gave me a homesick feeling, but it's a bit different this time when I don't have Asra to share a bread with.

"Hello Mr. Baker, I'll just take the usual." I tell him, trying to give off the same joyful energy he has. He gets right about it, flipping the dough he had just prepared. "Are you excited? I've heard the news around town," He tells me, I suppose everyone is excited to have Asra back, he's one of the 'hero's' of the city now.

"Well of course I am, it's been... difficult to say the least." He turned to me, giving me a worried look. Asra and I have known him for as long as I can remember, he has seen me in my really bad days, especially the ones when I'm dysphoric. He knows Asra is the only person that can calm me down when it gets really bad.

"Don't you worry, they'll be back before you notice and you can be lovey dovey again." He says, clearly trying to lighten the mood. I feel my face slightly heat up at his comment.

"That's not the only reason why I miss them!" I tell him, dragging you the "only" in a dramatic manner. "I know, I know. Just teasing you y/n, look sunset will be pretty soon I'm sure he'll be back by then."

He's right, I didn't realize it but a few hours must've passed since I came into the city. "Can I take the bread to go then? I want to be him when they get here,"

He smiled at me while taking the freshly baked bread off the oven, the sent was one of the best things ever. "Of course, let me get you a basket." He says, then turns and goes into the back of the shop. I take that time to look up to the sky, the sun is just about to set, the skies turning from a blue tone to an orange one.

"Here you go," he comes out of the room with a basket in hand, "right! Thank you." I hand him a few coins, and leave the shop waving goodbye. Once I'm outside I sprint all the way back home, Asra always comes back at sunset.

When I see the shop I don't even bother going in, I sit on the stone stairs outside, and look at the road that travelers take when coming in or out. It's windy outside, it usually is when night is falling, but the skies are still orange and pink. I've always loved to look at sunsets, it brings a warm feeling to me.

My eyes start to feel heavy, I haven't been sleeping as well without Asra, next thing I know I'm drifting off...

I'm woken up by someone shaking me slightly, I'm still a bit drowsy, but when my eyes adjust to the light I see them. Asra. I don't even think before throwing my arms around them, and burying my chest into his chest.  "Hi darling," his voice is soft, I forgot how much I missed it, it still gives me butterflies.

"I missed you so much," I say into his chest, my voice being muffled by their clothes.

They stroked my hair in a soothing manner, I could've stayed right there for ages, being around Asra made me feel warm inside, it made me feel home. "Come on, let's go inside," he said, getting up, while still having me in their arms.

The shop looks the same as when I left it, the sweet aroma of herbs, the piles and piles of books all around the store, and the curtains to the reading area only slightly open. Asra lets out a content sigh, when they see the place, stretching out, before leaning over and placing a soft kiss to my cheek.

"How have you been?" He asked, I usually shut down easily during my dysphoric days, and without Asra, there really want anyone to stop me from isolating myself. "I managed, it was weird to be without you though," I smiled at him.

They hug me tightly, almost squeezing the air out of me, but not in an uncomfortable way. Faust joins in on the hug, slithering out of Asra's sleeve, and settling around my neck. "That smile will be the death of me," he jokes, and Faust boops her tiny head against my cheek, in an affectionate manner.

"I love you dear, no matter where I am." They said, then pulled away only to kiss me, as if all the time we've been apart, this was the one thing in his mind. Just then I knew, we were both longing for each other the same way, miles apart.

"I love you too."
