Adina
My plans have been working well and for two consecutive days, I've snuck into the basement to share my meals with Uriel without being caught, and today wasn't any different. For the past two days, I didn't even have to dispose of the drugged meal as he was never served.Yesterday morning, I'd been worried, thinking he was being served by another nun in my absence but I'd stylishly confirmed from Mother Mary, who confidently told me the prisoner didn't need to be served as he'd been unconscious for quite some time. I'd feigned concern just to cover up my tracks but she'd told me it didn't matter that he'll soon be released. I knew that already and it was the reason I was taking it upon myself to make sure he wasn't drugged.
Just like the past two days, I entered the basement but this time, with a smile on my face, ready to see my new friend. But my smile was wiped off when I noticed him wearing pants. Blood drained from my face, my steps faltering as my heart fell.
"What, you missed seeing me naked?" He smirked, his eyes scanning my facial expression.
While he was right, that wasn't the reason my heart was palpitating wildy. If he was wearing pants, it means arrangements to get him transported to the lab were already in progress. The General and Father Aaron's last conversation clouded my thoughts as I vividly recalled the older man promising to get some clothes across for Uriel before he'll be transported.
"Come on, Angel, don't be so sad," amusement dripped from Uriel's words, his smirk widening into a full-blown grin that would have been enough to melt my heart on every other day, but not today. "You can always have me naked, if you wish," He winked.
A breath expelled from my lungs.
"T-that's not it," I murmured, my throat suddenly becoming so dry that I had to swallow some saliva.
A frown drew his brows together, as he waited for me to explain more.
"If they've brought clothes for you, it means they'll soon be here to take you in a few days,"
His frown deepened and I knew the question that was coming but I answered it before he spoke.
"Remember the day I was here that you almost attacked me?"
A look of remorse crossed his face but he simply nodded.
"That day, it wasn't my intention to visit you. In fact, I'd been warned to stay away from you after my first time seeing you. But I was curious to... Know more about you. So coincidentally, I was on an errand to deliver the priest's meal and I overheard him and an older man discussing you. It appears the priest is being paid to keep you here until they can transport you to the lab. He was also instructed to increase the dosage of the sedative being added to your food so you can be completely unconscious by the time they come for you. But the priest had requested that you should be clothed as it wasn't right to have a naked man within the walls of the parish. The older man had promised to send the clothes before transporting you,"
As soon as I was done, understanding dawned on him, and his eyes hardened.
"Were you conscious when they arrived with the pants?"
"No," he growled with a hint of annoyance.
His response lit a ray of hope in me but it quickly died as soon as it came alive.
"That's bad and good,"
He corked his brow and I set the tray I was holding down, while pacing before him, my fingers rubbing my temple.
"What is going on Adina?" he asked in a strong voice, one he's never used for me since we became close. I stopped before him, staring into his eyes.
"They'll be here for you soon. If you were not awake when they'd clothed you, it means you still have so much of that sedative in you and will likely be out when they come to take you and if that's the case, you chances of escaping are zero,"
