Paradise Before The Storm

"Ronald today was amazing! Thank you, I had a lot of fun" Anna pronounced pridefully, licking the ice cream on her hand, she was truly grateful for what he had done for her, it was something not many people had before, only her father and a few suitors.

"You're welcome Annie, any time"

"Huh, yeah sure. I know why you're doing this, I know why you're doing the vacation thing and I know why you're humiliating yourself as a janitor" She said in a squeaky tone, smiling and pointing at him playfully.

Ronald rose an eyebrow, carefully not showing his fear of her actually knowing. "Do you?" He asked skeptical.

"I do"

"And why have I done all of these beautiful things, my lady?"

"Because you want to say something," She confidently said, making Ronald turn out from the serious tone, he let out a sight. "wait are you serious?" Anna asked in concernment.

"Sit down Annie" He petitioned as he sat and pat on his side. Anna did what she was told, waiting to hear the bomb fall to let it and make it all crumble. "I... I didn't know how to tell you, I never do..." He chuckled.

Annabelle was never good with confrontation, she always cried during or after a fight, rather to sleep or in the bathroom, the deep feeling of the disappointment on herself and of the rejection made her feel unsafe and scared. "Wait, please... Don't say it, please" She asked, starting to feel the tears formulate on her eyes.

"Listen Annie I know you don't want to hear it, but I think that a part of you already knows it." Ronald wasn't good with words in contrast, always had a smart answer in fights, but when it came to talking to her young heart he felt as if while thinking of the words, comparing it with a song, his hands was shaking while writing and he knew that it would hurt someone, but he had to. "Cody knows about... The incident"

The eyes full of terror in her face made Ronald stutter, his own words piercing inside of him too, he knew he had to say it as it was, he couldn't keep easing it. He had to be straight forward otherwise it would be too much for her heart.

"He didn't told anyone, yet. And he... He has been rebuked from the mission until further notice."

"But it... But he— No, it can't be. He wouldn't."

"Annie you have to believe me"

"Why? You have lied to me before" She stated, having to stand on her feet, or she would fall apart.

"Just to protect you!" Ronald stood up too, pointing at her with a frown.

"Lies aren't protection Ronald!"

"You didn't had any reason to make me tell you."

"Well you didn't have to hide it on the first place!"

All her life she had been told that she couldn't fight back, she had to accept what she was told without a doubt, but now. Now things had changed and the girl didn't know what had taken upon her, what fighting spirit had come over her body, but something inside of her didn't let her accept the reality. She would fight this one, like never before.

"You always hide things from me! You lie to me! I don't even know what side you really are on!" She started to raise her voice.

"Anna stop, you're calling attention." He tried to calm her, walking close to her, but being rejected in a single push.

"I don't care! I don't believe you. Cody's a good boy, he cares about me and would never intervene with me and my—"

Then she couldn't say nothing more, she knew she couldn't. She had made a promise and was hand tied, mouth covered, blindfolded, in every way you tried to look at it. She couldn't betray that one person she made her promise to.
