Watching someone get put in the ground was one of the hardest things someone could do, especially when that someone was your father.
Today was my dad's funeral, and pretty much the whole town would be there, I guess you could say he was pretty popular.
Tiffany couldn't bring herself to do it, Matt thought he didn't deserve to be the one to do the funeral, and James was too young, so that left me.
But I was fine with that.
"Are you ready sweethart?"Tiffany stood in my doorway, I stared at myself in the mirror.
The black swing dress sat nicely on my body, the see through black shaul covering my shoulders.
I nodded turning to look at her, she smiled softly walking away.
I sat on my bed pulling me black heels on, heading downstairs after doing some final touches.
"Are you okay with driving still? I can do it if you'd like me too."Tiffany offered, grabbing her handbag.
"No, mom. I'm fine."
I didn't even realize what I had said, but she stopped in her tracks, smiling widely at me.
Out of the twelve years she's been my stepmother, that was probably the first time I called her mom.

"My dad was a, he was a good man. Tried to be at least, but yeah he did have his ups and downs, but they were just mistakes, but that's okay. Because he's human, just like the rest of us. We're We're human and that's we do, we make mistakes. Some are worse than others. My dad made a lot of mistakes in life, but I somehow still love him. A lot of you personally knew my dad, but only little of you actually knew what my dad was really like, he put on the act, everyday, that he was one of the best men in town. When I was five, my mom left. I haven't seen her since, or heard from her. A year later, my dad got remarried to my other mom, which meant I got stuck with that little brat for a brother. But I'm okay with that, one of the best gifts my dad ever gave me was my family. The family who stuck by my side, when I was going through stuff, the best family anyone could ask for. I didn't really tell anyone about this, because I knew it'd take down my dad, but now that's not really a problem anymore. A lot of you knew him as the perfect family man with the best life, great job, great house, car, wife, kids. But try living with him, almost every Friday night, he'd go to the bar and get drunk with his friends. And my dad was an angry drunk, he'd come home late at night, and he'd hit me, or Matt, never James or Tiffany. Because he knew better, he knew they'd get up and leave like that, but he knew Matt and I, we couldn't do anything. We couldn't leave, so he'd take his anger out on us, it'd get better over the years. He tried to stop drinking, he tried to get better for us. But there's no helping evil. There was no helping us. When my mom left, she held me and Matt in her arms, and told us, 'we'll meet again'. That was Mt favorite song for years, and my dad's last words to me before he died in that- fire, was, 'we'll meet again' and I'll never forget that. Because it's true. We will meet again. Some sunny day."
I looked away from Matt's eyes when the back doors to the old chapel opened, my eyes meeting someone I thought I'd never see, my eyes brimmed with tears.
"Excuse me."I said into the mic, skipped down the steps and into the back room, Matt and Billy rushing after me.
"What's wrong?"Matt asked, I put my hand on my forehead, gasping for air.
"M-mom."
"What about her?"
"She's- She's here."I choked back the tears, his face dropped, he let go of my shoulders storming towards the door.
"Hey, hey. It'll be okay, it's gonna be okay."Billy pulled me into a hug, rubbing my head.
"You okay?"Steve walked through the doors, Matt Nancy Jonathan and Robin close behind him.
"Is she out there?"I asked Matt, he nodded puffing his cheeks out.
"Why is she here?"Nancy asked
"Probably to see if she can get anything out of my dad's will."I looked out the window, watching all the people pile out of the building.
"Why is she here?"Tiffany asked storming through the door, James right behind her.
"I don't know, mom."I sighed
"She needs to leave."she paced with her head in her hands, she stopped right in front of me, "get her out."
With that she grabbed James and stormed out.
I was a bit taken back, she never acted like that. But I mean, can you blame her? Her dead husband's ex wife just showed up at his funeral.
