''Dad! Do you want some coffee too?'' I yelled exhausted across the house. I should have gone to bed a little earlier yesterday instead of watching TV until 2 am. Now I'm dragging my feet across the house, barely even awake. I need coffee, or I will fall asleep standing up.
My dad frantically rushed through the house, trying not to be late for his job. He is the best lawyer in the country and that makes him very busy, and he has to travel a lot. ''I have to go to work sweetie and I can't be late again. Call me when you get home. Love you!''
"Love you too!" I said, laughing when he almost forgot his car keys on the counter, then disappeared out the door.
I sat at the counter and slowly drank my coffee while scrolling through Instagram, stumbling at yet another basketball game picture. Ugh, why is he everywhere? Sebastian Freaking Reed. I hate him, but I bet he doesn't even know I exist. It started in sixth when he pushed me in the lake so he would look cool. Now he is a popular basketball player and me...well I'm just me. Quiet, boring, not at all popular and apparently invisible.
I decided to walk to school, since the weather is nice today, and it's only a 10-minute walk. When I walked past Sebastian's house, I saw him get in his Prius. For a jock, he sure is lazy. You would think he could walk 5 minutes, but I guess not.
I barely stayed awake during the first two hours of class. Fortunately it's lunch time and I can get another coffee. I saw a group of popular people from our school enter the cafe in front of which I was waiting for Sarah.
Sarah has been my best friend since freshman year, and we have been inseparable since. She doesn't even know how gorgeous she is with her hourglass figure, perfect olive skin, and long legs. Her silky, dark brown hair falls to her waist. Many boys try to ask her out, but she doesn't want to go. She has liked this basketball player since forever.
"Hey sunshine." She said as soon as she came and hugged me.
"Hey! Ready?"
She nodded and we walked in. "Funny. Courtney isn't here, drooling over Sebastian."
Courtney Carter. Captain of the cheerleaders, miss popular, always looking her best. We hate her, as do most of the girls in this school. But boys seem to like that rude, toxic type of girl, as long as she is hot.
"Speaking of the devil..." I said quietly, as Courtney walked by. She sat beside Sebastian, flicked her hair and batted her eyelashes at him. "Hey Sebastian, want to come to my pool party on Saturday? I have this new red bikini I was going to try out, and I want your opinion. Are you coming?"
"No, thanks. I have plans to do absolutely nothing that day." He said, not at all interested in her offer. Sarah and I almost burst out laughing when Courtney stood up furiously and stormed out of the cafeteria.
"I'm surprised she didn't give up yet. Sebastian hasn't shown a drop of interest in her since the beginning of the school year. I'm starting to think he is gay." Sarah said not so quietly, and I'm sure he heard her, but he didn't show it if he did.
"You are crazy, Sarah. He could have heard you." She just waved me off.
After lunch time we had to go back to school for a couple more classes. I sat down in the last row as I always do, and I saw someone sat next to me. It was weird, I usually sit alone. I looked up from my book just to see Sebastian, and I raised my eyebrow.
"Can I help you?" I ask and he just smirks at me.
"You can tell your friend I'm not gay, I just don't like when girls throw themselves at me." His dark brown, almost black eyes looked right into mine and I almost got lost in them and forgot how to speak. "Are you just going to stare at me, angel?" I blushed and looked away.
"Sorry, Sarah is too loud sometimes."
"That's okay. What's your name?" I looked at him with my eyebrow raised, and he just smirked.
"We have been living on the same street for 17 years, Sebastian." I said irritated.
"Well, you see, I could have easily missed you. You're small and quiet."
"My name is Julia. Now go away."
"Give me your phone number, Julia."
I scoff at his face. "Forget it."
"Come on, angel, I know you want to."
"I said no. Now go." I looked away and hoped he would listen, but of course he didn't.
"Can I buy you coffee later?" He asked.
"No."
"Ice cream?" I scoffed and shook my head. Seriously, what are we, five?
"No means no, you idiot."
"Ouch, that hurt my feelings." He whispered as the teacher came in.
"As if you have any." I muttered and he heard me, placing his hand on his chest to show me I hurt his heart. I rolled my eyes and turned to the teacher, completely ignoring him.
At the end of the day I hurried back home. I was looking at my phone when I crashed into someone. Of course, it had to be Sebastian with his friends.
"You know, if you want my attention, just ask, angel." I want to punch him right now.
"Funny, because it was you who was begging me before to go out with you, not the other way around." His friends whistled behind him and laughed.
"You... I was... I was messing with her." He stuttered back to the group. I made him stutter. I walked away smiling at the accomplishment.
Courtney stopped me just a few steps after. "Hey, Julia right? We have History together. Would you like to come to my pool party, maybe?"
I looked at her suspiciously. "I don't have time. Sorry."
"Oh come on! It will be fun! You can bring a friend if you want." She said enthusiastically, taking my hand in hers.
Weird, but a cheerleader inviting me to a party? You can't say no to that. "Sure I'll come."
"Great! See you saturday!" She said and skipped away.
I got home, still confused as to what just happened and called my dad to let him know I am home. He was busy so he said a quick ok and bye and that's it. I guess I will be bored again.
