It is Friday, and I am finally done with school for the day. I was meeting Sarah in a café before we went to buy swimsuits for tomorrow. I sat in front of the window, waiting for my, always late, best friend, and scrolled through my phone.

"Hey angel." I rolled my eyes as I recognized his voice.

"Sebastian, I'm meeting someone, get lost."

"Harsh, are you down for a quick coffee?" I wanted to punch that smirk right off of his face.

"No."

"Hey Reed! Food is here!" One of the basketball players shouted towards Sebastian.

"We're not done. See you at the party tomorrow."

"I thought you weren't going."

"I have to. There is this girl I'm trying to get to go on a date with me." He smirked and ran off.

How could someone be so annoying and not take an obvious hint.

"Jules! What was that?" I heard Sarah squeal behind me. I can't deal with her either.

"Nothing, he mistook me for someone, I guess." I shrugged and ordered some iced coffee for both of us.

"Really? It seemed as if he was asking you on a date."

"I can't just go on a date with Sebastian Reed. He is an arrogant, washed-up jock that didn't even notice me until a few days ago. He can't just decide to suddenly be interested in me and think I will follow him like a lost puppy."

"So he was mean to you like a million years ago, big deal. You can't just reject him now. I mean, look at him!" She acts like he is some kind of god.

"I can and I did."

I thanked the waitress that brought our drinks and ignored Sarah as she blabbered something about one time opportunities.

"So...my brother is coming next weekend." I said to Sarah as we looked through the shelves filled with different swimsuits.

"Don't you dare, Jules!" She turned to me immediately and grabbed my shoulders.

"What?" I asked innocently as I tried to hide my smile.

"Don't act stupid, you know what. You try to set me and Adam up every time he is here. No more, okay?"

I groaned and turned back to the shelves, pouting. My brother is just three years older than us and is studying in London. I always shipped him and Sarah, because they got along so well, and they were very similar. They both loved photography, and they always went on hikes together to get some pictures.

"What about this one?" She held up a black swimsuit that had an open back and was made mostly of lace. The upper part tied around the neck, and it connected with the lower part with strings.

I would never wear this in public. I mean, it's hot, but a bit too slutty for my taste. "I like it, but not for me."

"Try it on, I bet you look great in it." I knew she wouldn't leave me alone until I did, so I went into the changing room. I won't lie, it looks better than I thought it would.

Sarah bought herself a light blue swimsuit that looks like a two-piece as the crisscross straps in the middle section connect the top part and the bottom part. She looked perfect.

.....

The next day as we arrived at the party, there were a ton of people. Some were hanging around the drinks table, others tanning on the grass and most of the people were in the pool, jumping on one another, throwing balls and sitting on inflatable animals.

"Julia, you made it! You are Sarah, right?" She hugged us both. I was just as surprised as Sarah was. We never talked to Courtney, let alone hugged.

"Hey, great party. Thanks for inviting us." I smiled politely at her. She excused herself to go take care of something inside.

"This was so weird," Sarah said, stunned. "I need a drink" And she disappeared in the crowd.

I sat down on the grass and looked over the people around me. The girls could all be models and the guys looked like lifeguards. I feel like a potato in this swimsuit.

"Enjoying the sun?" I heard a voice say beside me. I looked over to see Sebastian grinning at me sheepishly as he sat beside me.

"Good point. I'm going to go...anywhere else. Bye." I stood up and walked to Sarah, who was sipping her drink, staring at some boys randomly doing push-ups.

I saw Sebastian walking towards me again, but Courtney stopped him in his tracks. "You came! Let me get you a drink." She said to him, then dragged him behind her.

He looked at me with a fake panicked expression on his face and mouthed "help me". I mouthed back "no" and turned around with a smirk on my face.

After a few hours everyone was pretty drunk. "Heyy babyyy" Some guy slurred when he came to me and hugged me around the waist. "Come inside with me."

"No, thank you." I said as I escaped his hold. I tried to walk away, but he kept pulling me back to him and telling me we would have fun together. "Let go of me." I started to panic when I couldn't pull away.

"She said let her go, Cameron." Sebastian said harshly behind my back. The guy stumbled back as he saw who talked to him and walked away quickly.

"You good, angel?" Sebastian asked, coming to stand closer to me. I nodded quietly, as I was still a bit freaked out at that guy's harshness. "Come on, let's get you some water."

He put his hand on my back and led me inside to the kitchen. He handed me a glass of water and I gulped it quickly, trying to calm down.

Sarah appeared in the doorway and exhaled loudly when she saw me. "Jesus Jules, what happened? I saw that guy being a dick, but you disappeared before I could reach you."

"I'm fine now, don't worry. Let's go home?"

"I'm actually going to play beer pong. Will you be okay walking?"

"Sure, have fun." She hugged me and ran away. I let out a frustrated breath.

"I can drive you." Sebastian smiled at me. Not smirked, smiled.

"No thanks."

"What do you have against me? It seems like you hate me."

"That's because I do. You're trying so hard to be popular that you don't see when you hurt someone."

He just looked at me confused and I turned around, walking away from him.

When I got home, I saw a note my dad left for me, saying he will be away until next weekend and I will have to go pick Adam up from the airport. Great, I'm alone in this house again.
