"What you're telling me is Annie is pregnant to your ex-boyfriend who is now dead?" Mum said, looking as dried-eyed as ever.

"Yeah. He was locked in a fridge by some creep."

The way mum blinked made me worried so, I decided to leave out the "initials" part.

"People just don't have hearts do they?" Mum said and rubbed her palms together.

"Oh, would you look at the time?" I said and looked at my watch, "Mum I've to go."

"Where to?"

"I've to take salvation on some things."

"Why don't you just bring him here?"

"Bye mum," I said, walking down the stairs.

"Some geographical names are Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, America, Andorra, Angola, Antarctica, Antigua, Artic ocean, Argentina, Armenia, Asia, Australasia, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijani, Bahama, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Barbados, Belarus, Belgium, Belize, Bhutan, Bolivia, Bos......" My 5-year-old cousin, Salvation stopped and looked into my eyes.

"It's okay Sal. You'll get it," I said and rubbed his hair.

"You don't get it. Why do I always have to be the one who doesn't get the stuff?"

"How old are you?"

"Five. You know that already."

"You're just a baby and you already know about twenty-seven of 'em, you're going to get it."

"You think so?"

"I know so."

Suddenly, he looked down and allowed some tears to fall.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"I-I.... just...."

"I told you not to....."

"It's not that."

"What is it then?"

"I just miss Jake so much."

"We all do," I said and drew him closer.

"Salvation!" We heard someone call and we looked up. There she was, in a fur coat with her Panama in her hand and her French plait sitting perfectly even in the wind. I never for once imagined Stacy would have a hair-do sitting on her head that didn't touch her back. Salvation ran to her and started to tell her about me tutoring him.

"I bet you've learned a lot." She said and ruffled his hair.

"I have."

"Nice. How 'bout you go inside and take a bath." She offered and he ran into their semi-detached house. When he was out of sight, she was all over me.

"What the heck are you doing here?"

"Good afternoon to you too," I said and grinned.

"Keep your sarcasm. You are here to rip off my brother's ear now that yours is dead?"

"Oh, you heard,"

"Of course I did."

"Didn't see you at the funeral service."

"I was busy."

"How is Blake? Oh wait a minute, I don't even care."

"Stay away from me."

"FYI, I didn't come here for you." I turned and saw two dots running towards me. I dimmed my eyes and saw Omar and Fuzzy, my cousin's dogs running at neck-breaking speed. Omar was a 2-year-old Siberian husky and Fuzzy was a year-old Pomeranian. They flung themselves on top of me and I fell. When I finally got up, I took my time to let them before saying, "tell Salvation I'll see him tomorrow."

"Don't bother, I'm getting him a new teacher."
I managed a smile despite the fire that burned inside me.
