15. A CHANCE

I felt her stir in my arms a little and soon I can feel tears start to fall on my shirt.  I hear her mumble "my mate doesn't want me." "Why do you say that Triny?" I looked at Tom and he just shrugged his shoulders.  We all waited for her to answer his question when she lifted her head and looked around and when her eyes landed on Tom she turned to me and stared into my eyes.  She gulped and tried to pull away but Rudy would have none of that.  He pulled her in closer snuggling into her neck "please don't move.  I know I have a lot to explain but please just give me a chance."   I feel her stiffen "Tommy Boy why do I feel the sparks and feel the pull to him when he has no scent?"  "Let me, Beta Tom."  He nodded at me and I looked into her eyes and found myself being pulled closer to her.

"A year ago I found my mate, Olive Thurston.  I was worried that she would not accept me because I was not an Alpha and everyone in our pack knew that she wanted an Alpha as a mate.  Especially if that Alpha was my brother Johnathan/Tony.  So, when we realized we were mates she rejected me telling me that there was no way she would be mated to me because she wanted Johnathan/Tony and not me.  She also said there was no way that she would be mated to anyone that was not an Alpha."  As I was taking a deep breath she cleared her throat "but that does not explain why you do not have a scent."

I smiled "I was getting to that my dew drop."  I watched as she blushed and couldn't help but smile at her.  "So, of course, I accepted her rejection and decided I would wait for my second chance mate if I had one. She is constantly throwing herself at my brother chasing after him even though everyone knows he has found his mate in a female she-wolf from this pack named Sarah she will not relent.  She keeps trying to convince him he should mate with a member of his own pack and not some lowlife from another pack.  My brother just ignores her and continues to be true to his mate since she is not of age.  The only time he gets a break is when she is here sleeping with the Beta."

I watched her shake her head "ok, continue I still want to know why you have no scent."  "Ok, well like I said I have been waiting to find my second chance mate and it has been hard.  Especially since my brother found his mate in Sarah and he has to wait till she comes of age so he is always here.  Plus I hate the fact I am his second Beta because our father made him make me Beta."  My gorgeous mate nodded her head "well, today my wolf Rudy was going crazy and kept saying he wanted to go to the lake and he would not relent.  So, off I went.  I must have been there an hour before I heard two people approach the lake from Alpha Mortimer's side of the boundary line and I saw you and Tom come into the clearing.  I was getting ready to leave to give you two privacy when your scent hit me and Rudy really lost his shit." 

She chuckled and I couldn't help but smile yet again.  "I turned to approach you and claim you as mine when your Beta Tom wrapped his arms around you pulling you in close and kissing the crown of your head.  I instantly lost it and told Rudy there was no way I wanted a rank climber and that you were probably going to reject me so it was better you didn't know we were there."  "Wait what rank climber?"  I chuckled "Yeah, I felt power coming from the both of you so I knew one of you was an Alpha I just didn't realize that you were the Alpha."  She nodded "is that all?"  "Nope, I heard then saw Brenda come out and attack and you hold her down commanding her to shift.  It was then I realized you were the Alpha.  So, I just thought you two were dating and that Tom was probably going to reject Brenda so he could be with you."

I took another deep breath "I left and headed to the pack house because I did not want to witness another wolf get broken because of a rejection.  When I walked in Johnathan's other Beta told me I was needed here.  Since I knew you were here I asked one of our pack members who happens to be a witch to make me a potion to hide my scent.  Before I crossed the border I drank it and hoped that we would not accidentally come in contact since I knew that would give me away.  I didn't want you to know I was your mate because I thought you had found a chosen mate."  She nodded and took a deep breath "ok I am ready."  I shake my head "ready for what?"  I saw the tears fill her eyes "for you to reject me."  Rudy and I growled while pulling her into us "mine."
