Erica's POV

Currently, I am being aggressively poked in my stomach.

"What..the fuck is going on?" I rasp out and rub my eyes to wake myself up a bit.

"I'm uh- waking you up," Rory says as she hovers over me with an apologetic smile displayed across her face.

She is already dressed in the navy blue uniform and has her braided into two short plaits.

"There are so many other ways you could have woken me up, how about an alarm, maybe?"

"I tried that."

"Wow. Okay. Never knew I was a deep sleeper honestly."

"You snore like a middle-aged man."

Ouch.

"I'm gonna take that offensively."

"Good. It's my own form of constructive criticism."

"Just criticism, you mean.." I mumble whilst rolling myself out of bed.

"I'm not that harsh," she turns and shrugs.

I beg to differ, but she can criticise me all she wants. That sounds really kinky, I did not mean it like that oh my god.

I enjoy the short conversations we have is what I meant, even if it's just playful banter.

I grab my plaid skirt and the rest of the clothes I need and make my way into the bathroom, turning on the light as I do so.

I put on all my clothes and begin readjusting my skirt slightly as I exit and I see Aurora making my bed. It's not that I couldn't be bothered to tidy my bed- wait no it definitely is.

"You don't have to do that you know?"

"I like the room tidy, I guess," she responds, I can't help but hear a tone of uncertainty in her voice.

I couldn't stop my brain's next thought but, would she have done this for other roommates?

Probably.

I'll just ignore that side comment, for the time being. My habit of getting my hopes up is really showing right now.

She's cute though.
Shut up.

I'm brushing my hair now, facing my mirror and I leave it down for today. I grab something to tie it back with, just in case.

-

I manage to convince Aurora to take me to science, we're in the same class but knowing her she would abandon me to get there early.

I am never early. Like ever.

She should feel blessed that we actually made it on time to be fair.

The lesson was the slowest thing I've ever experienced and what I learnt was that I will never again mess with a microscope.

I turned the lens once. Once. And my hand was slapped away by Rory.

On a serious note, Aurora puts everyone in that class to shame. She knows far too much for a girl our age, it's like she's constantly reciting one of her stupid science textbooks.

I am very much thanking the lords because I have art next, which I love but also I know where it is as it was the only part of the tour I remembered.

I wave goodbye to Rory as she has history next and I begin making my way to the art department.

I walk into my classroom and I'm greeted by my teacher, Mr Young. I laugh as soon as I laid my eyes upon him because his name is ironic. He is the polar opposite to young, but he
looks fun so I think I'm okay.

Mr Young hands me my sketchbook and we immediately delve into a conversation about art.

He points towards a boy who is repeatedly ripping pages out of his sketchbook and tells me to take a seat next to him.

"Leon, what did I say about ripping all the paper from your sketchbook?"

"But sir, my drawings keep ending up looking like utter shit, today is not my day," he complains.

"Tough. Suck it up."

This teacher is legendary.

I take a seat next to the boy called Leon and he gives me a friendly smile and we introduce ourselves.

I assist him with his work and the two of us immediately click. He has my level of humour and I am so here for it.

"You're funny, barbie."

"Barbie?" I question, literally no one gives me nicknames. Apart from now, obviously.

"Yeah, you remind me very much of Barbie."

"Thanks?"

"You're welcome, it's a massive compliment, Barbie is the most stunning of the stunning. If I was into girls that is, but still!" he responds.

I giggle at his remark, it's easy to talk to Leon.

"It's a good thing I like girls then."

"Oh my god you're gay too? So glad I have successfully found another, I'm thinking of making a cult what do you think?"

"I'm like a massive lesbian honestly so a cult sounds great."

"I know! There would only be two of us at this moment in time but that's okay, my friend Wyatt over there is a massive supporter of us gays," he points to a brunette who has completely given up on his work and has his feet kicked up on the desk.

"Leon, just because I'm more or less your only ally, does not mean you can use me to advertise your gang," Wyatt retaliates and gently waves in my direction, "Hey Erica."

"Hey," I give him a nod.

"Oi, close that mouth of yours and let me dream, also it's not a gang!" he turns to face me and speaks again, "Anyways, me and Wyatt are like..a package deal, if you become friends with me, you're stuck with him also."

"That's fine," I chuckle at the pair of them.

"She isn't stuck with me, she's stuck with you, fucker."

We are all back to sketching in our books whatever we wished, as Mr Young is letting us do what we want this lesson. This teacher has no care for language so he is automatically my favourite.

"Dickhead," Leon mutters and shakes his head.

I think we'll make a great group together. I wonder if Rory knows the both of them, if not she should so meet them.

It would be two opposite worlds colliding.

Note for today:
18.06.22
So now you've met Leon and Wyatt.
I think their duo is such a good friendship. You'll see a lot more of them later on so keep an eye out.
One more main character to meet!!

ALSO I IMAGINE LEON TO LOOK LIKE KENJI FROM THE SHATTER ME SERIES^^

This chapter is fairly long, I got a bit carried away.
Whoops.
