A/N : This was based off of a conversation with one of my friends who also watches this series (we were talking about the theory of Harlan being in the hotel in the upcoming season)

Viktor was just hanging out in the lobby of the hotel when he saw an old man (he seemed to be in his 60s or 70s) staring at him a few seats away. Now, Viktor was used to being stared at (sometimes people recognized him from his book, sometimes they were trying to decipher whether he was a boy or a girl, sometimes the attention was just residuals from the attention his chaotic siblings got), but something about this man felt oddly familiar. So, he walked over and sat down across from the older man.

The man had a tablet in his hand. Upon Viktor sitting by him, he looked down and typed something into it. Before Viktor could ask what was going on, he clicked another button and an automated voice came from the tablet.

"Vanya?"

Viktor took a second, thinking over the situation. Things were starting to click in his head about this man- The AAC device (or tablet app, as the case seemed to be), his familiar facial features, his age, the fact that he knew Viktor by his old name... Holy shit

"Harlan?" he asked, a mix of confusion and excitement filling him. If this was Harlan (which seemed to be who this was, especially as a smile came over his face at Viktor saying the name), he'd truly not been expecting to ever see him again, especially in this hotel, of all places. Harlan went back to typing in his app. "Oh my god"

"Hello"

"Hi, buddy" Viktor replied with a big smile, hugging the older man (gently so as to not hurt him). "How are you?"

"Good"

"I'm so glad to hear that" the Hargreeves sibling said, unable to keep the smile off his face. Not only was Harlan alive, but he seemed to be doing well and had found a way to communicate with others even though he couldn't talk. "How's your mother doing?"

Harlan paused at this. Viktor's heart began to sink as he realized that... Well, Harlan- Who had been only about 10 when they'd left that time- Was a very elderly man now. About 60 years had passed, even though it only felt like a few days for Viktor. Sissy was probably...

"Died about two decades ago" Harlan's app read. Viktor's smile left. Harlan clicked one of the auto-fill buttons. "I'm sorry"

"It's not your fault" Viktor replied. "People age" he reasoned. "I'm just glad I got to see you again" he added. Harlan smiled. "My name is Viktor now, by the way"

"That is a boy's name"

"Yeah, well" Viktor chuckled. "I realized I'm actually a boy. Is that okay?"

...

"Okay" Harlan typed. He didn't fully understand it (especially since he'd grown up back in the 60s), but if this change made his friend happy, then he saw no reason to protest. "It's good to see you again"

"It's great to see you too, Harlan" Viktor replied. "You've grown up so much"

"You haven't"

"I guess not, no" Viktor chuckled. "Tell me what all I missed out on, yeah?" he prompted. "What happened while I was away?"

"Well..."
