"Okay" Hero agreed. She wasn't thrilled at the idea of interacting with her mom, but Sam was right. She did kind of owe him considering that her little trip was the reason he was still stuck there. Sam just nodded and sat back down on the ground, a motion which Hero then copied. It's not like either of them had anywhere to be at that moment.
"What the fuck do I do after two weeks is up?" Sam asked after a moment. Hero wasn't sure whether or not it was a rhetorical question, but it's not like she'd have a good answer for him if it was serious, so she stayed quiet. "I'm gonna have to go through a bunch of hormonal shit while trying to stay alive" he continued, frustrated and scared. "Not to mention that I'm gonna get my period back and a bunch of other shit. I'm already a neon sign for harassment as is"
"We'll figure it out"
"You don't know that"
"I know that I am gonna be here for you with whatever unpleasant shit you have to go through because of my mistake" Hero insisted. Sam just looked at her, visibly unsure. "And fuck whatever people on the street say" she added. "You are a guy"
"It's kind of fucking hard to believe that when all the men in the world dropped dead and I'm still here"
...
"I'm sorry, Sam" Hero said, feeling more tired than anything. "I don't know how to fix this. I don't think I can"
"It's okay" Sam replied softly. "I mean it's not your fault those fuckers took all the goddamn hormones" he reasoned. "I mean, I get it was three people but one of them doesn't even take T, and they still could've left me more than the bottle I managed to hide in my pocket"
"Fuck those guys"
"Yeah" Sam chuckled, though there was little humor in it. The truth of the matter was that he was feeling miserable. So was Hero. So was everyone else in the world. The whole planet had turned to misery in the matter of moments. "Fuck those guys"
