I lick the envelope and seal the letter, and wipe my eyes with my sleeve. Nya was right. That really helped me. I had written so much and to be honest, it was painful thinking back on the happy and sad memories of her, but I am glad that I did it. I carefully write out Rumi on the front of the envelope.
I quickly pull off my hoodie and jeans and tighten my GI. Whenever we go to the city, I always wear my GI. It comes in handy. I'm allowed to go directly into crime scenes or off-limits areas. I always wear it so that in case there was some sort of emergency, I could help. The other ninja do the same, but sometimes Kai puts a hoodie in over his GI. He says he likes being comfortable. Personally, my GI is comfortable. It feels like...home. I have so many memories attached to it. Like the time I defeated The Overlord and got my father back. Or the time I first found my mom after years of separation, or the time when I first met Harumi and- I shake my head trying not to think about her again. I pull up my hood and run outside to find Nya.
I run outside the monastery and find Nya tightening a bolt on her motorcycle. She really loves that bike. She built it herself when she was still Samurai X. She is always adding new upgrades to it. I walk over and grab my motorcycle. I hold the envelope up and show Nya.
"I'm glad you did it." Nya says with a smile on her face. "I am too." I reply to her. "Are you ready to go?" I ask looking at her bike.
"Just one sec," she says finishing tightening a bolt. "I just have to get this a little bit tighter." I nod and put the envelope in my pocket. Nya stands up and hops on her bike. I hop on mine.
"Isn't the party starting soon?" I ask with question in my tone. "I don't want you to miss it. I know you were excited about catching up with the other Elemental Masters."
"I think this is more important. Besides, I always did like to make a big entrance!" She winks at me playfully and I laugh.
"Thanks for this Nya. It really means a lot." I say smiling at her.
"No problem Lloyd. Whenever you need something, I am always here. Always remember that."
"Thanks." I say smiling.
We take off and start heading towards Ninjago City.
It's the perfect day to be out riding our motorcycles. I love riding around the time when the sun goes down. The sky is always beautiful. The air smells like summer. The feeling of just going so fast, makes your heart race. The wind blows my hair back and I close my eyes for just a second. It makes me forget all my worries.
When I first became the Green Ninja and lost my childhood because of the tomorrows tea, I was allowed to finally ride a motorcycle. I was so excited because it finally meant freedom. I would ride out to the city and just think. The roar of the engine would drown out all my worries. The worries about being the Green Ninja and being good enough. The worries about facing my father and protecting Ninjago. My motorcycle felt like my ticket to happiness and being normal. I didn't have to worry about who was trying to destroy Ninjago, or what my father was planning, or anything related to being the Green Ninja. I could just be normal.
I speed up my bike to try to catch up to Nya who is a few feet ahead of me. I look at her and we both nod, knowing that we both wanted to race. She revs her engine and speeds up, flying far ahead of me. I speed up too, but she must have upgraded her bike because she is going much faster than me. I stare at the horizon ahead of me and Ninjago City slowly coming into sight. Memories of Harumi come flooding back to me, even faster than the motorcycle is going...
I jump on one of the motorcycles and Harumi jumps on behind me. She puts one hand around my waist and her other hand holds the mask. I feel my face blush underneath my hood. I start the engine and we take off, the Sons of Garmadon and Ultra Violet following on their bikes close behind. I can feel Harumi pull closer to me and I can tell she is frightened. She is holding what they are after.
