Chapter Twenty

I smiled and looked to my left as I felt the soft touch of someone's hand on my shoulder. His. 

His hand moved from my shoulder to the small fuzzy head of the baby in my arms. Our baby. 

The wind blew the leaves in the trees above us and caused her to snuggle deeper into my arms. I shivered and he sat down and pulled me closer. Sitting under the tree we had carved our names into so many years ago had made this simple moment seem like a complete circle. 

We had truly made it. 

You see, our love and lives didn't end that night when the Sons of Garmadon had tried to end us. In fact, it was the beginning of our lives. 

They say that fear and difficult times makes you realize how much your loved ones truly mean to you. That night did just that. 

After a difficult battle, Lloyd came back to me. He held me in his arms and for once in my life, my years of fighting with myself, my emotions, my guilt, and my anxiety, all melted away into that hug. 

I wasn't his girlfriend for much longer after that. 

I became his wife. 

And soon after that, the mother of his first child. Ruby. 

Her name seemed opposite of Jade. I no longer wanted to be known as the Jade Princess. I wanted to be know and defined by the things I loved. My husband, my child, and my future.
