Evangeline nerves were at an all time high.
She hated the attention she got. She knew she did good for the Wizarding World, but she didn't like being treated like a celebrity.
It was early in the morning when she was preparing her classroom for the first class of the day. It was an easy one, just a bunch of nervous first years.
Dumbledore walked into her classroom as she left the door perched open.
"Good morning, Professor. I did not expect you to be awake and already here."
She turned around from her wall, which she was hanging moving charts.
"Oh, there are still a few things I need to finish up."
"I wanted to ask, though you are not obliged to accept, there are quite a six and seventh year students that are eager to take your class now as an elective. I reckon you can work out why."
She brushed a piece of hair from her face, "Oh, yes, I suppose it's all right."
He handed her a piece of parchment, "Here's the list."
She looked it over, "Lots of students."
"Indeed."
She accepted. How could she not? Maybe they only wanted to take the class because of her name and not the course, but at least she could teach more students. Her sixth and seventh year classes were sparse to begin with, so all the new added students just made the class look regularly full.
And so things went. She planned on taking the day to only introduce herself and learn of the students before she would go into actual teaching. She knew how nervous many students may be. Especially the muggle borns having a pure-blooded Slytherin as a teacher or the ones who's parents were heavily involved in the war.
Her next class of the day were seventh years. They were a bit more talkative, asking absolutely no questions about her and Astronomy and just about what it was like being an Auror. She indulged them, wanting to break whatever tension there may be.
Then it was sixth years. When going over the roster and putting names to faces, she found herself laughing to herself.
"Fred and George Weasley?"
"Oh, we're here, Professor." One said, making a few people around the room laugh.
She was familiar with the Weasleys. Well, just one. She forgot he had so many siblings.
One stood up, "For those of you who don't know, our dear brother Bill use to chase our Professor around Hogwarts. He never had any luck."
More laughter erupted in the class. She shook her head playfully, "Alright alright. Settle down."
William 'Bill' Weasley had it out for Evangeline when she was at Hogwarts. Not in a bad way, at least to him. He was a first year and she was in her fifth when he developed a crush on her after she tutored him.
Apparently, he had been running his mouth to his family.
"You will see our little brother, Ronniekins. He's a fourth year and is friends with the Harry Potter. Very exciting stuff, you see." One said, maybe it was Fred?
"Also Ginny! She's a third year."
"Good to know. Now, let's get back on track." She said, continuing calling out the names on the roster.
When she called out Cedric Diggory, she heard giggles from a few girls in the class that made the boy blush furiously.
She ushered everyone out of the class when the bell rung, itching for an ounce of peace. She sighed and turned around to close her window at the sound of the classroom door shutting. She heard a faint footstep, and then low whispering.
