The next two weeks were horrid.
Sirius visited Evangeline every few days, staying for a little to keep her company before eventually returning home to Harry.
He informed her that he saw Remus twice, and he was a wreck.
Oh, what she wouldn't give to hold him and say it was okay.
On a rainy morning, she stood in the shower staring at the tiled wall bleakly. She had a sickly feeling all morning and her stomach felt like it was being punched repeatedly and the smell of her breakfast sandwich repulsed her.
She turned off the shower and stepped out, wrapping a towel around her body. She braced herself against the counter when a wave of nausea hit her again.
She groaned and walked into her bedroom and glanced at the calendar hung up on the wall, narrowing her gaze on the week she had marked that signaled her period. She thought back to the week prior, realizing she hadn't realized that something was missing.
"Motherfucker..." she whispered, "no... no."
Maybe it was nothing.
Well, that's what she told herself as she chewed her nails while staring at a magic pregnancy test and a muggle one.
The magic one was a bit less awkward to do, all she had to do was brew a simple potion and place a strand of hair in it while the muggle one was... well, she'd prefer not to think about it.
She left the bathroom when she just couldn't stand to watch. She lingered in her bedroom for a few minutes pacing back and forth. After procrastinating going back into the bathroom, she slowly crept back in.
The first thing she saw was the glass bottle with the magic pregnancy test glowing.
Her eyes widened and she picked up the muggle test, hands shaking as she looked at those very clear two lines.
"Fuck!" she yelled, throwing it down.
She paced her home manically. Tears were falling from her eyes as millions of thoughts raced through her head.
What should she do? Did the gods hate her?
Remus.
She groaned and slammed a hand down on the kitchen counter, "shit shit shit!"
Well, now she had to see him.
After having a miniature breakdown, she tiptoed back into the bathroom. She splashed her face with cold water and slowly looked at herself in the mirror, turning to the side. She lifted her shirt and stared at her stomach. Nothing looked different, but it was.
Her heart dropped as she placed a hand over her stomach, "sweet suffering Salazar."
After gathering what was left of her wits, she dialed Remus' number with shaking hands. Part of her was hoping he wouldn't pick up.
After a few moments of listening to that buzz that was starting to annoy her, she heard the line pick up.
"Hello?"
He sounded tired. Distraught.
This will be more fuel to the fire, she thought.
"Remus?" her voice was small, nervous. How could she not be nervous? This would be a lot easier if he didn't dump her two weeks ago.
"Evangeline?" his voice picked up, "you shouldn't be calling."
"Please, don't hang up," she quickly said, "can you come over, please?"
