I've lost it. I am officially insane. Send me to St. Mungos.
Millions of thoughts raced around Evangeline's mind as she stood in her living quarters at Hogwarts. She was appalled that she just uprooted her life the way she did. Maybe she really did need a change in pace.
Her boss was not pleased at the idea of her leaving, but nonetheless wished her luck and said she'd be welcome to come back during breaks. What Evangeline never quite wrapped her head around, was that she was a bigger deal in the Wizarding World than what she realized.
It's not like she had much to leave behind. She had a few friends back in London, but she wasn't close enough to them to miss them. Her mother, Verena, was not pleasant to be around. She was happy to have an excuse not to see her.
She didn't even know who all the professors were at Hogwarts. She knew only of McGonagall for Transfiguration, Cuthbert Binns for History of Magic (poor kids), and Severus Snape for potions.
She remembered Snape from her years at Hogwarts. They weren't close by any means, they tolerated one another. He became a Professor during her last year in school, which was strange to see her former classmate now teaching her.
She arrived to Hogwarts the day before the kids did. She got a rundown of just what this Tri-Wizard Tournament entailed, and it looked like she was going to also get students from Beauxbatons and Durmstrang.
She walked to her office and flipped through her notebook, she began writing lesson plans the moment Dumbledore and McGonagall left her office weeks ago. Luckily the idea of teaching wasn't completely foreign. She tutored during her years at school and had to take a course of being able to teach Astronomy to receive her advanced degree. Apparently you know you know your information when you can teach it to other people.
A knock at her door made her turn around, "Come in!"
Dumbledore walked in. He looked around her office, smiling at the enchantment she put on the roof to make it look like the night sky.
"I see you've settled in."
"It's cozy in here."
"I must... warn you, you might have some fans here."
She furrowed her eyebrows, "Fans?"
"You are a bigger deal than you realize, Professor. You've done wonders in the Wizarding World for how many Dark Wizards and Death Eaters you've captured."
"I didn't do it to gather numbers, Headmaster."
He nodded, his soft smile still on his aged features, "I think you will fit in wonderfully here. Most professors here aren't even aware you are teaching here, so you should know that you'll be in for many conversations tomorrow at the feast. And there is a certain professor... I imagine he'll be eager to speak to you."
"Who?" She asked, stepping forward.
He waved his hand lightly, "Get some rest, Professor."
The next day she spent most of her time prepping her classroom. She got so lost in her world that the sound of Snape in her classroom finally pulled her back to reality.
"Severus."
"Evangeline."
"Come for a lesson on the cosmos?"
"You should have been in the Great Hall five minutes ago."
"Shit!"
She ran out of her classroom and to her quarters, Snape walking out after nonchalantly. She raced back to her room and tidied herself up before running to the Great Hall. She quickly changed and thew on a thin black hoodless cloak that served more for fashion than warmth.
