Arabella Rosier first stepped foot into Hogwarts in September of 1972. It was not her first day that changed her life but the year that followed altered her fate forever. Whether it was for good or for bad was yet to be discovered.
"Arabella, if I hear one word about your behaviour in Hogwarts that is not positive you will regret it. Do you understand?" Allianne was a cruel woman. She would do anything for power, even if that was hurting her children. She didn't mind.
"We expect you to be sorted into Slytherin. I will be having words with the headmaster if this is not the case. Do not worry my child. Stay with your brother and all will be well. Do not associate with mudbloods or blood traitors, it is improper and unacceptable. We will not allow you to stain our reputation. But I know you wouldn't, Evan will help you know who to speak with, won't you son?" Geraint Rosier, Evan and Arabella's father. Difficult to describe. He didn't harm his children; with his own hands. He did not mind- maybe even appreciated when others would torture them. He always said that your actions will have consequences, do not disobey those who control you.
"Yes father, of course." Evan Rosier, the eldest child of the Rosier's. The heir. He was respected by his cousins and family. People looked up to him. It wasn't that they were afraid of him that made people respect him. They just understood that he would soon have control over the house; and the people of the prestigious family.
"Say thank you to your brother Arabella. It is simple manners. He will protect you. Be grateful." Allianne commanded her daughter.
"Thankyou Evan. I appreciate your protection." Arabella Rosier, the only daughter of Geraint and Allianne. Her only use to her parents was to marry a pureblood wizard as soon as she was of age. She was perfect. The perfect match for any man. That is what they all said, any man would want you, his trophy wife. Her skin was flawless however the beautiful tanned colour was covered with pale make-up and long sleeves. It was unacceptable, in her mothers opinion, to stand out in the family. Her dark brown, almost black hair cascaded down her back stopping just above her hips. She wished it was shorter but feared the wrath of her parents if she were to cut it. Her eyes were a deep green, like poison. They were almost identical to her mothers. Beautiful and dangerous.
"I expect you can find your own way to Platform 9 3/4 Evan?" Allianne asked, a sudden sweetness lacing her voice.
"Of course mother, Arabella and I should be on our way, we cannot risk missing the train." Evan wanted to be out of his mothers painful grasp, she may not have been physically touching him but her slender fingers wrapped around his mind when she was near him. She did not respond and simply nodded her head, grabbed her husbands arm and apparated back to the Rosier Mansion.
"Evan, where do we go?" Arabella was afraid, she was worried of the judgement she may get and she was afraid her brother may go against his word and leave her without any clue as to where she should be going.
"Don't look so frightened sister. I will not leave you. Follow me." He held out his hand towards her and she seized it, holding on as tight as she could, "We have to go through that wall, it's magic. We can't go through at the same time. Do you want me to show you or do you want to go first?"
"We have to go through a wall?" Evan nodded his head slowly. "You go first."
"Don't worry, I will be waiting for you as soon as you come through. Just breathe Bella, don't panic. It won't do you any good." He pulled her into a tight hug, before walking off through the wall.
'It's okay' she told herself. 'Your a witch, you can do magic so this will be easy'. She took slow cautious steps towards the wall, squeezed her eyes shut and walked through. It took a while but when she finally opened her eyes she was greeted by a smiling Evan.
"See! I told you that it would be fine. Come on, let's get on the train, I can introduce you to my friends." They walked together up to the train, she walked up first, the metal steps creaking under her feet. A narrow hallway travelled down the centre of the burgundy train, doors on both sides leading to compartments full of people, her brother ushered her forward until they came to a compartment with just two people inside.
He pushed the door open, stepping inside the small room with Bella trailing behind him. "Good to see you Barty, Regulus. This is my sister Arabella." He moved to the side so she could be seen by the two boys. "Arabella this is Bartemius Crouch Junior but just call him Barty. And this is Regulus Black."
Her mother had mentioned the house of Black briefly, commanding her not to talk with Sirius Black whom was in her year. Regulus Black was his younger brother, he was in the year below Arabella and Evan.
"Is she a first year like our little Regulus here?" Barty questioned, rustling the younger boys hair.
"No. She's in our year." Evan wasn't letting her speak and it was getting on her nerves but she knew better than to mention it and disrespect him in public.
"So why weren't you in Hogwarts last year, pretty?" It had caught Regulus' attention and he too was curious as to why a witch from a pureblood family would not have attended her first year of Hogwarts.
"My mother thought it was best for me to learn the basics of magic from the safety of my home. She believed it was dangerous for me to attend." Arabella knew this was far from the truth but it was the sensible option.
"You said she believed, does that mean you disagree.?" She knew Barty was messing with her and trying to catch her out on something that he could make fun of her for. She just hoped it was banter and not to report back to her parents.
"No, of course not. If my mother believes that it was not safe to attend Hogwarts then that is true. I was not ready to be put in danger so I wasn't." Of course she didn't believe it because neither did her mother. Allianne needed more time to manipulate her daughters mind to be perfect because what was a perfect body without an obeying mind. It was nothing. She was nothing without her agreement and submission.
"Barty leave the girl alone, she's just got here and your already pestering her. At least let her settle in first. Were not even off the train." Regulus spoke up before Barty could say anything more. She was more than grateful but knew not to push it and quietly sat in the corner. She didn't say another word for the rest of the journey. Instead she imagined a life where she didn't have such protective and controlling parents. She wondered if she would be happier or if this was just how she was meant to be.
