It doesn't take long for the first half of Bella's day to pass by. Now she was sat in a lesson she hated and loved.
Potions had always been something she was good at, if not excelled in. But now? Potions reminded her of the potion she made so often. It didn't help that she was sat with a boy that could quite literally ruin her life.
"Rosier." Sirius said, taking his seat beside her.
"Yes?" She turned her head to look at him, his long hair was messy in his face, a wolf cut kind of look. It suited him, the shorter strands hung in his eyes, but the longest parts made it just past his shoulders.
"There's a party this Friday. You should come." He told her, flicking his hair out of his face.
"As if anyone wants a snake at their party." The two houses hardly ever mixed, and if they did it wasn't someone like Bella that they would talk to. Bella was about as slytherin as you could get. She had the long dark hair, wore green all the time, she didn't have many close friends. She was a snake. That's what they called her, or a slytherin princess. Every slytherin knew her. She was pureblood, came from a powerful family that was respected among the wizarding community. Nobody other than another slytherin would want to hang out with her.
"We are very inclusive thank you very much." Yeah.. to the slytherins that weren't friends with his brother. She couldn't really say that to his face though
"Uh huh.." She decided that was an appropriate response.
"So you're coming? Fuck ye. I've heard that snake parties are chaos. I wanna see how crazy you can get Arabella." He did a little dance in his chair, waggling his eyebrows.
"Very funny. I don't party. Not unless my brother drags me there."
"Well then I'll just have to do your brother's job. It'll be fun." He was grinning now, like a dog. A big toothy smile.
"No. It really won't be." She never enjoyed parties. She always drank far too much and ended up doing or saying something she shouldn't. Too many secrets had been told because of alcohol.
"You're coming anyway." No wonder he was friends with James. 'Not James' She told herself, 'Potter'
They were making a hair-raising potion but it didn't seem to be going very well.
"Sirius. What did you put in the potion this time?" She asked, crossing her arms. He often did this, putting random things in there potion that weren't supposed to be in there. She couldn't take her eyes off him for even a second or he'd do something stupid.
"Just half of James' textbook.." He admitted, trying to hold in his laughter.
"For fuck's sake." At least it belonged to James and not her, "Whatever, I better not get a detention for this Black."
"Come on, call me Sirius. You can't be that mad." She was only messing with him but it was funny to see how quickly he realised it changed. She'd grown used to calling him Sirius, they sat with each other for five hours every week, and she was getting sick of using his last name. She knew she shouldn't have ever switched, but she hadn't even meant to.
"You better be on your best behaviour then Sirius." She pat his head as if he were a puppy, but in her defence.. he acted like one. But across the room she caught eyes with an angry looking boy. A boy with scars covering his face. Remus Lupin. He quickly averted his eyes when she spotted him, as if she hadn't already seen the look in his eyes.
"Aren't I always?"
"You don't want me to answer that question." He was never on his best behaviour, he didn't even know what good behaviour was.
