Staying awake through the lessons of the day wasn't easy, but as the final class came to an end Arabella was reminded of the Quidditch practice she had promised to attend. She was walking with Rodolphus and Evan at the moment she remembered it and let out a frustrated sigh.
"Is everything okay Bella?" Her older brother asked looking down at her, he himself had been concerned about his sister. Confused as to why she wobbled as she walked or how she struggled to talk coherent sentences.
She knew why. She just didn't want to admit it to herself yet. It was shameful that she had to do it, and even worse that she was doing it.
"Yeah. I- I'm fine, just a bit dizzy is all. I think I'm just dehydrated." Another lie. The lies were taking over the truth and the lines between had finally blurred together in her chaotic mind.
"Are you sure you're going to be okay for practice? You don't have to go if you don't feel up to it." Rodolphus suggested, making sure she knew that if she was ill or if something was wrong with her she didn't have to put herself in a bad situation just for the sake of others.
"Don't worry about it. I'm fine. Just need water." Each word she said was difficult to force out. Not because it was false or she felt guilty for lying but because it felt as if something was trying to force her mouth closed and shut down her mind.
"Come on then Bella. There will be water down at the pitch and we need to get you your kit as well." Evan said, slinging his arm around her and walking with her body weight on his, he just hoped she would say something if it was bad. She looked up at him smiling as they continued walking to the fields.
When they arrived at the quidditch pitch, Mulciber was stood holding Bella's kit, "Rosier, go and get yourself changed and be back here, hurry up." Mulciber was anything but kind. He was the kind of guy that would do anything for popularity and power. They had all seen him do it before, seen him pushing and shoving first years around when he was a fourth year himself.
"Sorry" Bella muttered under her breath as she ran off to the changing room. There wasn't a girl's changing room. So she got changed into her kit as quick as she could, shoving the jumper over her head and pulling the leggings up her legs she looked in the mirror, admiring her appearance, noting the way the emerald green Slytherin jumper complimented her complexion. She walked out towards the group watching as Mulciber shouted and complained about everything anybody said. However, when she walked up to the team his eyes raked over her body for far too long, an uncomfortable feeling settling in her body.
"So clearly we have another player that we have needed for far too long, it was about time we kicked that mudblood off the team anyway. We'll need to go back over positions, see who wants to play what." Everybody laughed at the comment Mulciber had made about the boy who Bella had replaced, she laughed too. Not because it was even remotely funny but because people would be wondering why a pureblood Rosier witch didn't laugh at a joke made about muggles.
"I am obviously keeper. Evan and Lucius you are both beaters. Rodolphus you are seeker. Arabella, Avery you two are chasers. And when Barty turns up he will be joining you." Although he is cruel he knows the ins and outs of this team better than anybody. "Is everybody okay with that?" A chorus of yes followed his question.
Each of them grabbed their brooms, mounted and flew into the sky. They would play 3 on 3, with Barty being gone they could but by the next practice they hoped to have a couple of extra players so they could play a proper match.
Bella wished she was playing as a beater but with Lucius and Evan both being set on there position she knew it wouldn't be an option. Before she could get her head straight the quaffle was flying in her direction. Her hands skimmed the ball, grasping onto it and launching it towards the goal but it was caught by a smirking Mulciber. Practice usually only lasted an hour according to Evan but they played late into the night, the moon was soaring high in the sky much like the Slytherin players.
