chapter 10

Lapis pov

it had been about two weeks since I arrived at camp, I had become really close with luke, the Stolls twins and some other campers. mainly from the Hermes and aphrodite cabins, the two cabins seem to have taken a real liking to me.

I also managed to make the Athena and Ares cabins hate me with a fiery passion, especially Annabeth who did not seem to like the fact that luke gave me an endearing nickname.

talking about that nickname, the whole camp seems to have taken to calling me " Princess" whether that is in a complementary way, or a teasing way.

and due to a little incident in which Luke had saved me from a lava-spewing wall, he had gained the nickname "the shining night". he liked this nickname a lot.

the weather around here had started to decrease drastically showing that uncle Zeus was growing increasingly impatient.

fortunately for him, I was summoned by Chiron to the big house meaning that I was about to be sent out on my first ever quest.

Chiron greeted me on the porch and gave me the laydown, he then sent me up towards the attic to speak with the oracle of Delphi.

when I got up there I could see all the trophies Percy spoke of in the book. they looked far grander than what he described them as, apart from the accumulated cobwebs and dust.

I looked to the end of the free pathway to see the oracle of Delphi, which was just a skeleton with rotting skin at this point.

I went up towards the oracle and asked them about the quest I would have to partake in.

a green smoke appeared from their mouth and started circling the ground, creating the image of smelly Gabe and his entourage.

when the picture was fully formed all four of the whale-like men turned their heads toward me, Gabe then started speaking in a voice that sounded like it belonged to a million-year-old person who had been smoking since they could grasp the dammed thing properly.

You shall go west, and face the god who has turned,

next is the man to Gabe's right who I hadn't bothered to learn the name of started speaking in the same voice.

You shall find what was stolen, and see it safely returned,

next was eddy who spoke up in the smoker's voice.

You shall be betrayed by one who calls you a friend,

and the last of Gabe's gang (whom I also didn't care about) spoke the final sentence, again in the awful voice.

And you shall fail to save what matters most, in the end.

I went back to Chiron, who now had Mr, D and Grover with him, and told him the prophecy I was foretold.

Chiron:" I see.

I still had to play dumb so I asked:" do you have any idea what this could mean sir?.

Chiron:" I have a theory

Mr, D:" well let's hear it then.

Chiron:" I believe that "the god who has turned" is referring to the unseen one (the unseen one is a nickname the Greek people used to refer to Hades to avoid using his name and attracting his attention)

me:" I don't believe he is behind this Chiron, I dought that the overworked god of the dead would want to start a world-ending war.

Mr, D:" wow the brat has a point.
