Chapter 11

Poseidon POV

I was sitting on the edge of my throne, anxiously waiting for the news one of the naiads that I had posted at camp half blood was to bring about my daughter.

I had noticed that Zeus had become restless with his thunderbolt situation, and due to him blaming my princess and me, she was the demi-god who would ultimately be sent out to fetch it. his saltiness involving the newest prophecy connected to lapis didn't help either.

I was thinking about what to do when at last the naiad omorfia walked into the throne room, escorted by two of the palace guards.

omorfia bowed to me as she reached the middle of the room and greeted me with a simple:" greetings my lord.

I spoke next, saying:" greetings to you as well, do you have any news on the current situation with the princess?

omorfia:" yes I do my lord, the princess was sent off just 1 hour ago towards NYC with a daughter of Athena named Annabeth, a son of Hermes named luke, and the satyr who escorted her to camp half blood named Grover.

me:" Chiron sent one of Athena's brats with her!? they're going to be fighting non-stop. Please tell me there was a reason behind this.

omorfia:" there was apparently a prophecy tied to the child of Athena which caused her to be sent on the quest.

me:" di immortals, let's hope it doesn't interfere with the quest much.

omorfia:" I hope so as well my lord.

me:" where are the children headed?

omorfia:" they were sent to visit the underworld to seek out lord hades' assistance as well as to see what was happening down there due to the recent fury attack on the princess.

me:" well, at least she has met her uncle before. that will make sure that his heart is soft to her, how will they get there?

omorfia:" they will be dropped off at a bus stop near the apartment the mother to the princess lives with enough money to make it over on busses and trains both to and back.

I think for a while before saying:" I have a new task for you omorfia, I want you to follow the princess wherever you can without being spotted, this way I will know for sure that she will succeed

omorfia:" as you wish your majesty.

and with that omorfia left to go and find the van filled with children.

Annabeth's pov

I can't believe that that sea spawn is really making me out to be the villain. and luke believes her, even after all we have been through together.

well, that doesn't matter right now. as long as my plan works, if it does lapis will be trapped in the underworld with no way to escape and everyone will see me as the hero and her as some stupid girl who couldn't even do one thing right.

all I have to do now is make sure I'm not found out and sabotage the quest a little. after that luke will love me again as he was always intended to.

I could hear the muddled voices of luke and the other two as they were joking around, it only fueled my anger as I heard this.

time~skip

after about 3 hours of driving, we arrived at a bus stop in front of an apartment complex. the apartments didn't exactly look abandoned but it was obvious that they weren't well taken care of, almost like the apartment manager was an inexperienced drunk. me being a daughter of Athena was immediately disgusted by the state of the place.

we all stepped out and Grover and luke went to grab our stuff as lapis started checking routes to see which bus we had to get onto, I knew I had to act at least a little nice towards lapis so I went up to her to start a meaningless conversation.

as I walked toward her I was thinking about what we should talk about, and I decided on using the run-down apartment building as a conversation starter as it made the most sense.

I came up next to lapis and said:" what's up with that building? was it shut down or something?

lapis:" no it wasn't, that's where my mum, stepdad and I live.

me:" then why is it so run-down

lapis:" the building manager, Eddie. would much rather spend his days, and the building's funds, on nothing but gambling and alcohol. therefore the place isn't really up to code.

me:" what about health inspections? it should have been shut down already.

lapis:" the only inspector that is brave enough to step into the building is entirely corrupt and is willing to give Eddie a free pass every time as long as the inspector gets a few hundred bucks every time he comes to inspect.

me:" that's horrible.

lapis:" you're telling me, the gambling usually happens in my apartment and is run by my stepdad, in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they had already taken over my room.

I faked sympathy for the sea spawn to make her trust me more. after our conversation, she returned her attention to the route planner and the boys walked up to us with our stuff in toe.

lapis pov

 I could tell Annabeth was being extremely fake but pretended not to notice, I tried to get my stuff from luke but he claimed that I was already under too much stress and didn't need to worry about keeping my stuff safe. it was obviously an excuse to stop me from wearing myself out as he knew I really didn't care much about the situation I was in, but I let him anyways.

just then my stepfather decided to finally greet helios face to face, not that helios would be all that happy seeing the abomination that is the man my mum married.

luckily for us, he didn't pay enough attention to his surroundings to recognize me standing there, he probably thought that It was just a group of teens on their way to cause trouble.

after he left Annabeth decided to open her mouth:" is THAT the building manager you told me about?

I responded to her with:" it's worse, that's my stepdad. mum married him because his smell is so disgusting that it full-on covered my existence. and if it wasn't for that unkindly one finding me on a school trip I would probably still be in there.

Grover:" I was almost repelled away from lapis because of his stench.

luke:" I don't envy you whatsoever.

at that time the bus we were supposed to take stopped behind us and I went to get on, the others following suit.

we went to sit at the very back of the bus, with Annabeth again being forced to sit one in front of us.

I noticed that this time around the furies didn't show up, this meant that I most likely didn't have to face medusa eighter.

that's good, I hate snakes. their way too creepy.
