Chapter 12

lapis' pov

we arrived at the gateway arch as Annabeth had requested (demanded) that we go see it, and seeing as we had more than enough time and that this was a stop we were forced to take the boys didn't have much of a problem with it anyway, I, on the other hand, knew that I would have to fight the overgrown chihuahua and its mother.

Annabeth was dragging us around and lowkey tried to separate me from the group when we were going into the elevator up, but I luckily managed to stop her by mentioning I was claustrophobic which caused Luke to wait behind with me while Annabeth and Grover went up together with echidna while again hammering on about the whole white knight thing.

when we got into the chart we luckily were alone, luke had obviously caught onto echidna as when he saw her he froze up, and now he seems really impatient to get up there to check on Grover and Annabeth.

when we got up there echidna had already revealed herself and her pet.  many people were trying to get away through the other elevator, I told luke to evacuate the mortal, take Annabeth and Grover and get out of here. he tried to protest but I wouldn't have it and charged the chimaera un capping riptide in the process.

I first started distracting both of them, giving the others the time to get out of here, after everyone was out of the building the real battle began.

the chimaera spewed its fire at me to stop me from moving around as I had been doing for the past 2 minutes, but my training with dad came in handy, I made the water vapour in the air condense around the mouth of the chimaera causing the fire to only reach about 30 centimetres, this gave me the leeway I needed to get to the side of the beast and stab at the chimaera, I managed to stab it about a quarter of the way down the fuller before the snake tail tried to bite at me. I retreated and readied myself in a woman guard, that way a can easily cut the snake down if it dares to attack again.

unfortunately, I had to shift my attention fully to not getting fucked over by said snake tail, so ai couldn't keep the fire in anymore, this gave the chimaera the chance to fire at me making me dodge, I had gotten out of its range but the goats head was now in reach of me and bucked its horns into my right arm causing me to drop riptide and launce away from it towards the hole that the chimaera had burned into the ground.

echidna began taunting me, telling me I would die right here and that I was useless without my sword. I knew I could pull the other I was carrying out to attack again but I knew that that was a stupid idea, the chimaera was wounded and wouldn't be able to leave the building for at least 20 minutes and the police were already here as I could here by the sirens. if I dispel them here then the blame for the hole in the ground will be put onto me, but if I jump into the river below the echidna would be blamed.

so I made the decision to let myself drop into the river, I simply threw myself into the hole, riptide returning to my pocked capped as I reached about halfway.

as my skin made contact with the water I already knew triton was nearby, I could feel his aura nearing every second. I swam to the bottom of the river and was met with the concerned face of my older brother, and one of my nieces tailing him.

after they check me over after I told them not to, I got lectured by triton for "stupid acts of heroism" and " putting my life at risk"

he handed me four pearls and said that if I crush them under my foot that they will transport me back to the ocean, I asked him if it was really ok for us to have them as they seemed really rare and he told me that step-mom, dad and he would rather have me and those I cared about extra insurance of safety then have the pearls sit worthless in the treasury of Atlantis, I hugged him and thanked him, silently sending a pair of thanks to dad and amphitrite as well.

when I got out of the lake I saw echidna in her human form being taken into police custody as the chimaera was put in the back of an animal control car, I looked around and saw Grover, Annabeth and luke all standing near the back of the line searching the entrance to the arch for a sign of me, so I walked up behind them and tapped Luke on the shoulder.

luke jumped like 10 meters into the air when I touched him, he turned around with the most frightened face a person could pull making me start laughing like a madman. luke immediately hugged me, his breathing was out of control.

soon after Grover joined the hug as well.

POSEIDON'S POV

I knew lapis had gotten our small gift when she sent a prayer to me thanking me, I smiled as I heard my daughter's voice appear in my head.

triton entered the throne room about 10 minutes after I heard the prayer and said: I have delivered the pearls to lapis father.

me:" yes, good job triton. now let's hope your sister doesn't get into too much trouble. 

triton:" yea, about that ...

me:" is there something I should know about son?

triton:" echidna and chimaera showed up at the great arch and lapis fought them, she escaped by jumping through a hole the chimaera had burned into the bottom of the arch.

I sighed, a headache starting to develop. I pulled up a one-way iris message to look at my daughter's current condition only to see the child of Hermes and the satyr hugging lapis like she had been missing for years and suddenly reappeared without any type of heads up.
