Chapter 7
After I returned from my walk, Ragnar was standing near the door again and I glanced up at him in question as I shut the door.
"Don't worry about me, Ragnar. I can take care of myself." I walked past him to sit in the chair he left unoccupied.
He faced the room with his back against the door with his arms crossed. His facial expression was stormy, and I shrugged, facing the others.
"What have we come up with?" I asked.
Liam glanced at the others before saying, "we believe each of us have these tattoos to make up for each of the elements you'll get once you mate with us. I don't mean to sound so blunt about mating, making love, or fucking. Whichever way you prefer to express it." He glanced at Ragnar with a hardness I haven't seen before on him. "Before we find your uncle to attack, I believe your powers would help you in this fight. Not just your strength and speed. You would be a force to be reckoned with. Hell, you already are one but with that kind of power, each of the four elements? You'd be unstoppable."
I nodded slowly, digesting the information. "Well we already know I have fire. But I haven't mated with either one of you."
"That's where it confuses us. You and Ragnar already have a connection more than what we have with you. And I believe that's why." Liam said to me with a hint of disappointment in his tone.
I could see Ragnar out of the corner of my eye glare at Liam from across the room. I smirked at Liam at Ragnar's response. "You have nothing to be concerned about."
Liam winked at me with a grin and Aris coughs to cover his laugh.
"Wait a minute!" I exclaimed as I stood up and walked over to stand in front of Ragnar with my eyes wide. I gripped his chin and stared at his jaw before looking at Liam. "He doesn't have a single mark from me punching him."
"Yeah? We're vampires." Liam chuckles at me.
"No, you don't understand! I could feel my hands burning, it melted the doorknob and I didn't leave a single burn mark on him." I said excitedly.
Liam frowned at me and then looked at Ragnar's jaw. His eyes widened in surprise.
"I think because of the tattoo," I pulled Ragnar's sleeve up to show the fire tattoo, "it protects him from my fire."
"So, we now know what our tattoos do, or at least a part of it." Jaxson said with a grin.
"Finally some good news!" I grinned at the guys. "Thanks for letting me punch you Ragnar, it really helped." I snickered. Liam, Jaxson, and Aris chuckled behind me.
Ragnar looked down at me with amusement in his eyes. "Yeah, sure. No problem, anytime." He rolled his eyes and pulled his sleeve down.
I smirked at him and stepped away. "I'm gonna head to bed. I'll see you." I walked to my room and shut the door behind me.
A couple hours later
I'm startled awake by noises coming from just outside my bedroom door and I rubbed my eyes, frowning in the dark. What the hell is happening now? I wondered.
I crept up to my door and stopped for a moment to listen silently. No other sounds came from outside so I cracked the door open to look out of it. I saw a foot angled off to the side and my frown deepened. I opened the door more to follow the legs to their owner. Ragnar.
"What the hell are you doing?" I asked him, annoyed from him waking me.
He looked up at me with his eyes glazed over and chugs a bottle of cheap whiskey. He swallowed audibly, "drinking outside your door because I must protect the Queen." He raised the bottle in salute.
